David John Newsom (born 5 October 1937) is an English former first-class cricketer and Royal Navy officer.
The son of Rear Admiral John Bertram Newsom, Newson was born at Plymouth. He was educated at Haileybury College, where he played cricket for the college cricket eleven. [1] Newsom was an acting sub-lieutenant in the Royal Navy in May 1960, with full promotion to the rank in that same month. [2] He was promoted to the rank of lieutenant in June 1962. [3] He played first-class cricket for the Combined Services cricket team, making his debut against Cambridge University at Fenner's in 1960. [4] He made a further appearance against Northamptonshire at Northampton in 1961. [4] He scored 33 runs in these two matches, with a high score of 23. [5]

Henry Hume Chisholm Baird was a Welsh cricketer and British Army officer. Entering into the East Kent Regiment from Sandhurst, Baird served in the Second Boer War with distinction, earning the Distinguished Service Order. John Druce Sayer was an English first-class cricketer and an officer in both the Fleet Air Arm and the Royal Navy. Serving in the Fleet Air Arm during the Second World War, Sayer took part in mining operations against German-occupied channel ports, as well flying anti-U-boat missions during the Battle of the Atlantic. Following an injury sustained during an accident, Sayer transferred to the naval branch in 1947. He continued to serve in the Royal Navy until 1970, undertaking various duties during that time. He also played first-class cricket for the Combined Services cricket team.

Lieutenant-General Sir Harold Ben Fawcus was a British Army officer and an English first-class cricketer. After studying medicine at Durham University, Fawcus was commissioned into the Royal Army Medical Corps. He would serve with the corps from 1900 to 1934, serving in the Second Boer War, the First World War and the Third Anglo-Afghan War, for which he was highly decorated. He eventually rose to the rank of lieutenant-general. During his time in the military, he played first-class cricket in South Africa for Orange Free State and in England for the British Army cricket team. In retirement he served as the director-general of the British Red Cross.
