David Roddy (born March 27, 2001) is an American college basketball player for the Colorado State Rams of the Mountain West Conference (MWC).

High school career

Roddy was a three-sport athlete at Breck School in Golden Valley, Minnesota, competing in basketball, football and track and field. [1] As a senior, he averaged 29.7 points and 16.6 rebounds per game for the basketball team. Roddy was an all-state quarterback in football and won a Class A state title in the discus. [2] [3] He committed to playing college basketball for Colorado State over offers from Minnesota and Northwestern. Roddy also received football scholarship offers from NCAA Division I programs. [4]

College career

On January 22, 2020, Roddy recorded a freshman season-high 26 points and eight rebounds in a 86–68 win over Fresno State. [2] As a freshman, he averaged 11.4 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. [5] On January 27, 2021, Roddy posted 27 points and 15 rebounds in a 78–56 victory over Boise State. [6] He averaged 15.9 points and 9.4 rebounds per game as a sophomore. [7] Roddy was named to first-team All-Mountain West. [8]

For the 2021–22 season, Roddy was named the Mountain West Player of the Year. [9]

In March 2022, Roddy led the Rams to their first NCAA tournament appearance since 2013.

On March 30, 2022, Roddy declared for the 2022 NBA draft while maintaining his college eligibility. [10]

The Rams were led by second–year head coach Steve Addazio and played their home games at Sonny Lubick Field at Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins, Colorado, as members of the Mountain Division of the Mountain West Conference.

The 2021–22 Colorado State Rams men's basketball team represented Colorado State University for the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was coached by Niko Medved, who was in his fourth season as head coach. The Rams played their home games at Moby Arena on CSU's main campus in Fort Collins, Colorado as members of the Mountain West Conference. They finished the season 25–6, 14–4 in Mountain West Play to finish in second place. As the No. 2 seed, they defeated Utah State in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Tournament before losing in the semifinals to San Diego State. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament as the No. 6 seed in the South Region, where they were upset in the First Round by Michigan.
