Premise

Richard DeVanity, patriarch of the wealthy and dysfunctional DeVanity family of Los Angeles, has been murdered by his psychotic lover. Now Jason DeVanity and his siblings must struggle to keep their father's renowned jewelry empire from crumbling around them. [1]

DeVanity was created, written and executive produced by Michael Caruso, who also writes and executive produces the series, and stars as Jason DeVanity. [1] [4] The series is directed by Kelley Portier. [1]

DeVanity debuted on April 28, 2011, and the final episode was released on March 20, 2014. [5]

Reception and awards

Writing for Entertainment Weekly , Alina Adams named the series one of the "4 best soap operas on the web" in 2015. [6]

In 2014, DeVanity was nominated Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding New Approaches Drama Series. [7] In 2015, Andrea Evans was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Performer in a New Approaches Drama Series for her portrayal of Vivian Price. [8] [9]

DeVanity won Indie Intertube Awards for Best Soap Opera and Best Directing in a Soap Opera (Kelley Portier) in 2011, and an Indie Soap Award for Best Writing in a Drama (Michael Caruso) in 2013. [10] In 2015, the series won Indie Series Awards for Best Guest Actress in a Drama (Andrea Evans) and Best Production Design (Michael Caruso and Barbara Caruso). [11]

Since its debut in 2011, the series has been nominated for multiple other awards. [10]

Maura West DeFreitas is an American actress. She began her career in 1995, when she was cast Carly Tenney on the CBS soap opera As the World Turns; she remained with the soap until its series finale on September 17, 2010. West later went on to portray Diane Jenkins on The Young and the Restless from September 2010 to August 2011. In 2013, she was cast in the role of art dealer Ava Jerome on General Hospital. She has been nominated for 12 Daytime Emmy Awards, winning three of them for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

Hillary B. Smith American actress

Hillary Bailey Smith is an American actress, best known for her daytime soap opera roles as Margo Hughes on As the World Turns and Nora Hanen Buchanan on One Life to Live.

Sarah Joy Brown, sometimes credited simply as Sarah Brown, is an American actress. She is perhaps best known for originating the role of Carly Corinthos on the American daytime drama General Hospital from 1996 to 2001. For the role, she won three Daytime Emmy Awards. In 2008, she returned to General Hospital in a different role, Claudia Zacchara. She exited General Hospital once again in 2009 and began appearing on The Bold and the Beautiful in the newly created role of Aggie Jones.

Martha Byrne American actress

Mary Martha Byrne is an American actress, singer and television writer. She played the role of Lily Walsh Snyder on the soap opera As the World Turns from 1985 to 1989, then again from 1993 to 2008; as well as, from 2000 to 2003, Lily's twin sister, Rose D'Angelo. Byrne has also appeared in other stage, television and movie roles, including the title role in the 1983 film Anna to the Infinite Power. She is currently executive producer of the digital drama series Anacostia, where she has played the role of Alexis Jordan since 2011. Byrne has won three Daytime Emmy Awards for acting.

Pierson Fodé American actor

Pierson Dane Fodé is an American actor, Internet personality, and model known for his roles as Brooks on Disney Channel's Jessie and Ely in the 2015 romantic comedy film Naomi and Ely's No Kiss List. Fodé has gone on to portray Thomas Forrester on the CBS drama series The Bold and the Beautiful, as well as make appearances in Tacoma FD, Dynasty and The Real Bros of Simi Valley. Tainted Dreams is a soap opera that premiered on YouTube on December 30, 2013 and later moved exclusively to Amazon and Amazon Prime. The series debuted on Popstar! TV and the Popstar! App on September 23, 2019. Created by Sonia Blangiardo, it is a "soap-within-a-soap" which follows the backstage drama of the fictional soap opera Painted Dreams.
