Club career

Early career

Having trialled with Charlton Athletic, Bromley and Sutton United, Frith failed to find a club to sign a professional contract with after leaving school. A further trial at Southend United would also prove unsuccessful, and he eventually settled at non-league Welling United. [3]

A change in FIFA regulations and the effects of Brexit meant that Premier League side Chelsea had to branch out their scouting network, notably bringing in a number of young, non-league players. [4] As a result of this, Frith was offered a trial with the West London-based club in February 2021, and signed in May of the same year. [5] [6]

Initially signed as a left-sided defender, Frith was used sparingly on both the left and right sides of midfield, he managed a total of five appearances for Chelsea's under-23 side, including featuring in an EFL Trophy game against Exeter City. [6] [7] After initially being set for release at the end of the 2020–21 season, Frith continued to feature for the club’s youth teams. [7]

He eventually left Chelsea at the end of August 2021, and signed a professional contract with fellow Premier League side Aston Villa on 13 October 2021. [3] [8] [9] He settled quickly into the youth team of his new club, notably scoring twice on his debut against West Midlands rivals Birmingham City U23s. [10] [11] He followed this up with a hat-trick against Coventry Sphinx in the first round of the Birmingham Senior Cup. [12] On 16 June 2023, Frith was released by Aston Villa. [13]

Move to Spain

On 5 September 2023, Frith signed for Valencia CF Mestalla, the reserve side of Valencia CF, managed by Miguel Angel Angulo. [14] [15] Frith made his debut in the Segunda Federación, the Spanish fourth tier, on 12 November 2023 - in a 3–2 victory over La Nucía. [16]

Personal life

Born in England, Frith is of Jamaican and American descent. [17]

The 2011–12 Premier League season was Aston Villa's 137th season in English football. It was the club's 101st season in the top-flight; and their 24th consecutive season in the top flight of English football, the Premier League. The club was managed by former Birmingham boss Alex McLeish, following Gérard Houllier's departure on 1 June 2011 after less than a year in charge. An extremely disappointing season for the club, saw them finish in 16th place and only two points off relegation. Numerous records were broken during the season including: the lowest points total in the Premier League, fewest wins in a season (7) and worst home record in Villa's 138-year history. As well as poor performances in both domestic cups – being knocked out in the third round of the League Cup and the fourth round of the FA Cup – this season eventually culminated in the sacking of McLeish on 14 May 2012, a day after the season had concluded.

The 2012–13 Premier League season was Aston Villa's 138th season in English football. It was the club's 102nd season in the top flight, and 25th consecutive season in the Premier League. The club was managed by Paul Lambert, their third manager in three seasons, after Alex McLeish was sacked on 14 May 2012, having himself only been in charge for 11 months and 4 days. Lambert's first competitive match came on the opening day of the Premier League season on 18 August 2012, a 1–0 defeat to newly-promoted West Ham United at Upton Park. Their first Premier League win came on 15 September 2012, a 2–0 victory against Swansea City at Villa Park. Lambert was handed a one-match touchline ban on 21 November 2012 for comments relating to a penalty decision in Villa's defeat to Manchester City. On his first return to Carrow Road, Lambert received a mixed reception from the Norwich fans on 11 December 2012 in a League Cup quarter-final which his Villa team won 4–1.

The 2019–20 Premier League season was Aston Villa's 145th season in English football. It was the club's 25th season in the Premier League, and their 106th season in the top flight, following their promotion from the EFL Championship by winning the play-offs.
