Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences is the school of liberal arts at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. The college was named in 1981 in honor of its benefactors, Robert H. Dedman, Sr. and his wife, Nancy McMillan Dedman, both of Dallas.
Bachelor's, Master's, and doctoral degrees are offered through 16 departments in the humanities, social sciences, and the mathematical and natural sciences. Competitive Graduates: The percentage of Dedman students accepted to medical school is typically 10-20 points higher than the national average each year. Publications: Faculty members publish with such university presses as Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, and Yale. Many of their publications can be seen at the Barnes & Noble SMU Bookstore, which has a section devoted to faculty authors.
In 2004, Dedman College researchers generated $7,752,800 of SMU's $19.6 million in competitive research grants, an amount that has increased 52 percent since 1994. Renovated Facilities: In 2006, Dedman College completed the second phase of renovation for the Fondren Science Building, which houses the Department of Chemistry and the Department of Physics. During the prior five years, more than $28 million supported construction and renovation projects for science facilities within the College.
In 1966, Dr. Franklin G. Balch, a political science professor at SMU, founded the "Superior Studies Program" consisting of 40 students. Over the next decade, Superior Studies was divided between Departmental and General Education programs. Thus, the University Honors Program developed, growing in 2006 to a group of more than 850 students who complete a required minimum of seven courses in the humanities. The UHP (as it is commonly called) focuses on an interaction-based pedagogy. The program notably features smaller classes, highly acclaimed professors, guest lecturers on controversial topics, and free special events for its participants.

The University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), formerly known as University College of the Fraser Valley and Fraser Valley College, is a Canadian public university with campuses in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Mission and Hope, British Columbia. Founded in 1974 as Fraser Valley College, it was a response to the need for expanded vocational training in the communities of the Fraser Valley. The Bobby B. Lyle School of Engineering is the school of engineering at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. The engineering program has existed at SMU since 1925. Many of the college's degree programs are accredited by ABET. The school is divided into five departments, or areas of study - Civil and Environmental Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Management, Information, and Systems, and Mechanical Engineering. In October 2008, the school was renamed for alumnus and SMU trustee Bobby B. Lyle.

The SMU Cox School of Business is headquartered in four buildings on SMU's 210-acre main campus five miles north of downtown Dallas and has a second campus in Plano, Texas.
Perkins School of Theology is one of Southern Methodist University's three original schools and is located in Dallas, Texas. The theology school was renamed in 1945 to honor benefactors Joe J. and Lois Craddock Perkins of Wichita Falls, Texas. Degree programs include the Master of Divinity (M.Div.), Master of Sacred Music, Master of Theological Studies (MTS), Master of Arts in Ministry, Master of Theology (Th.M.), Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.), and Doctor of Pastoral Music as well as the Ph.D., in cooperation with The Graduate Program in Religious Studies at SMU’s Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences. Steve C. Currall is an American psychological scientist and academic administrator, currently serving as the seventh president of the University of South Florida. He previously served as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Southern Methodist University from January 1, 2016. From 2009 to 2014, Currall served as Dean of the UC Davis Graduate School of Management. He has also held leadership roles at University College London and Rice University. On March 22, 2019, Currall was named to succeed Judy Genshaft as President of the University of South Florida, and took office July 1, 2019.
