Deepali Bhosle-Sayed (born 1 April 1978) [1] is an Indian actress, dancer, social activist and politician associated with the Marathi entertainment industry and Maharashtra state politics. She first gained recognition as a performer in Marathi cinema and television. [2] In 2026, She participated as a contestant on Colors Marathi's reality show Bigg Boss Marathi 6 . [3]
Sayed entered politics in 2014, contesting the Maharashtra Assembly elections on an Aam Aadmi Party ticket, and in 2019 she joined the Shiv Sena, contesting from the Mumbra-Kalwa Assembly constituency. She has also been active in charitable work through her trust and public causes. [4]
Sayed was born on 1 April 1978 as Deepali Bhosle in Bihar, India, into a Hindu family. She completed her education in Fine Arts from Nalanda University, where she developed an early interest in performing arts. Before entering films, she began her career working in Marathi television serials in the 1990s, which helped lay the foundation for her later work in cinema and dance. [5]
Sayed married businessman Bobbie Khan in 1998, and the couple has one son. [6]
Sayed began her career in the Marathi entertainment industry through television before transitioning to films and reality programmes. She has been active across cinema, television serials, dance-based shows, and reality television.
She started her acting career in Marathi television serials during the 1990s, which helped her gain early recognition. She later appeared in various television programmes and reality shows. [7] In 2018, she served as a judge on the Marathi dance reality show Apsara Aali , where she was noted for her expertise in traditional dance forms, particularly Lavani. [8] She has also appeared on other television programmes, including Kitchen Kallakar on Zee Marathi.
In 2026, Sayed participated as a contestant in Bigg Boss Marathi season 6 , further expanding her presence as a television personality. [9]
She made her Marathi film debut in the early 2000s and went on to appear in several films across different genres. She gained significant popularity for her performances in Lavani songs, which became a defining aspect of her screen image. Her notable film appearances include Chatur Navra Chikni Baiko (2004), Jatra: Hyalagaad Re Tyalagaad (2005), Jau Tithe Khau (2006), Chashme Bahaddar (2006), Mumbaicha Dabewala (2008), Sasu Numbari Jawai Dus Numbri (2008), Lagnachi Varat Londonchya Gharat (2009), Ladi Godi (2010), Durga Mhantyat Mala (2011), Sambha: Aajcha Chhavaa (2012), Ghungarachya Nadat (2014), and Bola Alakh Niranjan (2019). In addition to feature films, she appeared in the short film Punha Ekada Garud Bharari Gheu (2020), Dance and other work. She has also been involved in film production in later years, expanding her work beyond acting. [11]
Sayed entered politics in 2014, when she made her electoral debut by contesting the Maharashtra Assembly elections from the Ahmednagar constituency on a ticket from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). However, she was not successful in that election. [12]
In October 2019, Sayed formally joined the Shiv Sena. Her induction into the party took place in the presence of Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray. Following her joining, she was announced as the party's candidate for the Mumbra-Kalwa Assembly constituency in the 2019 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections. [13] She contested the 2019 election as the Shiv Sena candidate from Mumbra-Kalwa but was defeated by Jitendra Awhad, a leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), by a significant margin. [13]
Following the split in the Shiv Sena, Sayed aligned herself with the faction led by Eknath Shinde. She has since been associated with the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) and has participated in party activities and political programmes under its leadership. She is not part of the Shiv Sena faction led by Uddhav Thackeray. [14]
In April 2023, Sayed filed a police complaint against her former personal assistant, Baburao Shinde, alleging he made defamatory statements and threats against her. Shinde had claimed she held Pakistani citizenship, owned properties abroad, and had links to underworld figures—claims Sayed denied as false. The police registered a case under sections related to defamation and criminal intimidation, and the matter remains under investigation. [15]
