Dekade ( [dəˈkadə] ; Decade) is a nineteenth studio album by Indonesian singer, Chrisye, released in 2002 by Musica Studios. It is also his only cover album.
The idea for Dekade came when Chrisye thought about previously popular songs that were later forgotten. Believing that all genres of modern music draw inspiration from the past, he spoke with Erwin Gutawa, who agreed that they should make a tribute to the history of Indonesian pop music. They worked together to find songs that they could obtain the rights to use and that matched Chrisye's timbre. [1]
Eventually, they decided on "Kr. Pasar Gambir dan Stambul Anak Jampang" to represent the 1940s, "Di Bawah Sinar Bulan Purnama" to represent the 1950s, "Dara Manisku" to represent the 1960s, "Anggrek Bulan" and "Pengalaman Pertama" to represent the 1970s, "Kisah Kasih di Sekolah" and "Sakura dalam Pelukan" to represent the 1980s, "Kangen" to represent the 1990s, and "Seperti Yang Kau Minta" to represent the 2000s. [2] The songs that were chosen originated from a variety of genres, including kroncong, rock and roll, pop, [1] and dangdut. [2]
Upon Chrisye's request, Musica Studios approached Sophia Latjuba to be his duet partner. According to Chrisye, he chose her for her "unique" voice. Although Sophia Latjuba was surprised to be asked and was under contract to a different label, she accepted. [3]
Chrisye and Sophia Latjuba recorded their vocals in Musica Studios' studio in Jakarta, while the Allan Eaton Orchestra recorded the music in their studio in Melbourne, Australia. Arrangement was done by Erwin Gutawa. [1] Work also took place at Sing-Sing Studio in Melbourne and 301 Studio in Sydney. All told, over fifty people worked on the album. [2]

Dekade was well received, selling over 300,000 copies and being certified double platinum on Chrisye's 54th birthday. [4] By October 2003 it had sold 350,000 copies. [5]
Music videos were released for four songs, including both songs featuring Sophia Latjuba: "Seperti Yang Kau Minta", "Kisah Kasih di Sekolah", [6] "Kangen", and "Anggrek Bulan". [7]
Chrisye followed the release of Dekade with a concert at Plenary Hall in Jakarta in 2003. Tickets sold out and the audience numbered several thousand. The sound was handled by Danesh Item, Pardi, Doni Lamuri, Rudra, Edy Jacobus, Lucas Harnadi, and Niki Hirio. [8]
Noah is an Indonesian rock band formed as Peterpan in Bandung, West Java in 2000, which consisted of six members: Ariel, Andika, Indra, Lukman, Reza and Uki, with Andika as the leader. Most of their lyrics are written by Ariel, who is the band's lead vocalist. The band currently consists of three members: Ariel, Lukman, and David; and is currently on hiatus since New Year 2024.

Ismail Marzuki was an Indonesian composer, songwriter and musician who wrote around 202 to 240 songs between 1931 and 1958, including numerous popular patriotic songs. Among his best-known works are "Halo, Halo Bandung", "Gugur Bunga", and "Rayuan Pulau Kelapa". In 1968, he was honoured with the creation of the well-known Taman Ismail Marzuki which is a cultural centre in Menteng in central Jakarta. In 2004 he was declared one of the National Heroes of Indonesia.
Aluna Sagita Gutawa, better known as Gita Gutawa, is an Indonesian singer. She is also the daughter of composer Erwin Gutawa.
Nazril Irham, known professionally as Ariel or Ariel "Noah", is an Indonesian musician, singer, and songwriter of Minangkabau ancestry. He is the lead singer of the Indonesian band Noah, formerly known as Peterpan.
Badai Pasti Berlalu is the 1977 soundtrack to the Indonesian film of the same name. Rolling Stone Indonesia listed it as the best Indonesian album of all time. Three of its songs, Badai Pasti Berlalu, Merpati Putih, and Merepih Alam, were listed by Rolling Stone as among the best Indonesian songs ever released.
Sabda Alam is a 1978 Indonesian album released by Musica Studios. It is Chrisye's second studio album and his first after signing with Musica. The album was written in collaboration with Guruh Sukarnoputra. It was well received and, in 2007, was listed by Rolling Stone Indonesia as one of the 150 best Indonesian albums of all time. Actually, this album was scheduled to be released in August 1977, but it was officially released in early 1978.
Senyawa is a twentieth and last studio album by Indonesian singer, Chrisye, released in 2004 by Musica Studios. The album features a collaboration with numerous Indonesian singers and bands, including Project Pop, Peterpan, Ahmad Dhani, and Ungu.
Kala Cinta Menggoda is a 1997 album by Indonesian singer Chrisye, with arrangement by Erwin Gutawa. It was released by Musica Studios and it also was his 17th album. It received numerous awards, including two Anugerah Musik Indonesia Awards, in 1998; the music video for the title song "Kala Cinta Menggoda" won the Asia Viewer's Choice Award that same year. This album was also recorded by Chrisye prior to his death, 10 years later.
Balada Shalawat is an Islamic religious album released in 2010 by Gita Gutawa. It was arranged, orchestrated and produced by Erwin Gutawa and published by Sony Music Indonesia. Written as a way to "bring people to pray and praise Allah", the album included two new songs and six covers or rearrangements. The proceeds from album sales were to be donated to the poor.

Naif was an Indonesian rock band from Jakarta, formed in 1995. The band consisted of David Bayu Danangjaya (vocals), Fajar Endra Taruna Mangkudisastro, Franki Indrasmoro Sumbodo (drums), and Mohammad Amil Hussein. They were known for their retro sound and style. Two of their songs, "Mobil Balap" ("Racecar") and "Posesif" ("Possessive"), were listed by Rolling Stone Indonesia in its 2009 list of the best Indonesian songs of all time. The band disbanded in 2021 after exactly 25 years.

"Kidung Abadi" is a song written by father and daughter team Erwin and Gita Gutawa for the Kidung Abadi Chrisye concert; the concert was held on 5 April 2012 to commemorate the fifth anniversary of Chrisye's death. The song was created over a period of three months by splicing syllables from previously recorded vocals by Chrisye. At the concert, spliced black-and-white footage of Chrisye was shown lip synching to the song while Erwin's orchestra performed the music. The song was well received: the audience gave it a rowdy ovation, while critics praised its lyrics and described it as one of the best parts of the concert.
During his 40-year career, the Indonesian pop singer Chrisye (1949–2007) released 20 studio albums, 2 tribute or cover albums, 2 soundtrack albums, 10 compilation albums, an indie album, and 56 singles. He also recorded the soundtrack to three feature films, acted in two, and released 26 music videos. In 2008 Rolling Stone Indonesia listed five albums to which Chrisye contributed as among the best Indonesian albums of all time.
AkustiChrisye is a 16th studio album by the Indonesian singer Chrisye released in 1996 which was produced by Erwin Gutawa. It includes acoustic versions of several of his earlier songs, as well as new material.
