Delphine Nkansa (born 21 September 2001) is a Belgian athlete. She was the Belgian national champion over 200m in 2022 and the European Under-23 champion over that same distance in 2023. [1]
Nkansa was born in Belgium to a DR Congolese father and Belgian mother. [2] She grew up in Lisbon, Portugal after her family moved for her father’s work. After achieving her baccalaureate in Lisbon, Nkansa moved to Paris to study law. [3] [4]
Nkansa set a new personal best time of 23.03 seconds for the 200 metres in July 2022 in Albi, France. At the same event she improved her 100m personal best to 11.26 seconds to make her second fastest Belgian woman of all time in the event behind only Kim Gevaert. Nkansa qualified from her 200m heat at the 2022 European Athletics Championships in a time of 23.08 and was eleventh fastest in the semi-finals running 23.28. This matched her result in the 100m as she qualified from the heat to the semi-finals and also finished eleventh fastest in a time of 11.39 seconds. [5] [6] [7] Nkansa was part of the Belgian 4 x 100 metres relay team that qualified for the final with a seasons best time of 43.58 in the semi-final, before finishing sixth in the final. [8]
Nkansa ran a new personal best over 60m of 7.24 seconds in January 2023. Soon afterwards she finished runner-up to Rani Rosius in the 60m at the Belgian national indoors championships in February 2023. [9] She was subsequently selected for the 2023 European Athletics Indoor Championships in March 2023, in which she qualified through the rounds for the final. [10] She finished sixth in the final in a new personal best time of 7.19 seconds. [11]
At the 2023 European Athletics U20 Championships in Espoo, Finland, Nkansa won the gold medal in the 200 metres. [12] Selected for the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, she did not qualify for the semi-final of the 100 metres. [13]
She reached the semi-finals of the women's 60 metres at the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow. [14] She ran as part of the Belgian 4x100m relay team at the 2024 World Relays Championships in Nassau, Bahamas. [15] She was selected for the 2024 European Athletics Championships in Rome in June 2024. [16] She placed 4th in the European Championships semi-final in Rome in June 2024, not advancing to the final. She did post a personal record, covering 100 meters in 11.21s. [17] She was also part of the Belgian 4x100m relay team which qualified for the final. [18] In June, she again broke her personal record at the 2024 Belgian Athletics Championships setting a time of 11.20s. [19] Having qualified for the women's 100 metres at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games via the World Athletics Rankings, [20] she qualified for the semi-finals by matching her PB and finishing 3rd in her round 1 heat. [21] She finished 7th in her semi-final. [22] She also ran in the women's 4 × 100 metres relay, the Belgian team also having qualified for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games via the World Athletics Rankings. [23] The team was however disqualified in round 1 when Elise Mehuys passed the baton to her outside the takeover zone. [24] [25]
Kristof Beyens is a Belgian sprint athlete, who specialises in the 100 and 200 metres. His personal best time over 200 metres is 20.44 s, achieved in Osaka during the World Championships.
Jérôme Éyana is a French sprinter who specializes in the 100 metres and 60 metres. He competed in the men's 4 × 100 metres relay at the 2000 Summer Olympics.
Reeta Sisko Hanhijoki, née Markkanen is a retired Finnish sprinter, who specialized in the 60, 100 and 200 metres. She won a bronze medal at the 1989 European Indoor Championships. Domestically, she won 28 national championship titles in the 60, 100 and 200 metres indoor and outdoor between 1985 and 1993.
Dafne Schippers is a Dutch retired track and field athlete who competed in sprinting and the combined events. She holds the European record in the 200 metres with a time of 21.63 seconds, making her the sixth-fastest woman of all time at this distance. She also holds the Dutch records in the 100 metres and long jump, and shares the Dutch records in the 60 metres indoor and 4 × 100 metres relay.
Daryll Saskia Neita is a British sprinter. She won a silver medal in the 200 metres at the 2024 European Championships along with bronze in the 100 metres at the 2022 European Championships, 2022 Commonwealth Games and in the 60 metres at the 2023 European Indoor Championships. She has also won several medals as part of Great Britain 4 × 100 m relay teams, including an Olympic silver medal in 2024 and bronze medals in 2016 and 2021, World Championships silver medals in 2017 and 2019 and European gold in 2018.
Imke Vervaet is a Belgian athlete. She competed at the 2020 and 2024 Summer Olympics as a 200 metres runner and as a member of the Belgian women's 4x400 metres and mixed 4x400 metres relay teams. She also participated at multiple World and European Athletics championships, indoor and outdoor, individually and as a member of the 4x400 metres relay teams. She was national champion in the women's 200 metres in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2024.
Lieke Klaver is a Dutch track and field athlete who competes in sprinting. She specializes in the 200 metres and in the 400 metres. In the 4 × 400 metres relay, she is the 2023 World Champion and the 2024 World Indoor Champion with the Dutch women's team. She won a gold medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in the mixed 4 x 400 metres relay.

Kaysha Love is an American bobsledder and former collegiate sprinter. She attended and competed in track and field at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, where she was a two-time Second Team All-American (2017–2018). She was Utah’s 2016 Gatorade State Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year in high school. She represented the United States at the 2022 Winter Olympics, where she competed in the two-woman bobsled.
Hannah Brier is a British sprinter who won the 200 metres event at the 2022 British Indoor Athletics Championships. She competed at the 2014 and 2022 Commonwealth Games.
