Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications is a cabinet level ministerial post in the Government of Telangana. First held on 2 June 2014, this ministry has one of the important portfolios in the cabinet. K. T. Rama Rao of Bharat Rashtra Samithi was the inaugural holder of this portfolio for two consecutive terms. D. Sridhar Babu is the incumbent minister for this portfolio from Indian National Congress.

Background

After the bifurcation of the Andhra Pradesh (1956–2014) into Telangana and the residual state of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana was left with Hyderabad emerging as the hub for Information and Technology (IT). [1] Reforms initiated during the Second N. Chandrababu Naidu ministry paved the way for the development of the IT sector in Hyderabad, [2] and successive governments continued the momentum after the formation of Telangana. [3] K. T. Rama Rao was credited with taking up initiatives to foster the IT sector in the state. [4] [5]

While the majority of the industry is concentrated in Hyderabad, other cities are also becoming significant IT destinations in the state. The Second N. Chandrababu Naidu ministry or the Nineteenth ministry of United Andhra Pradesh of the state of United Andhra Pradesh was formed on 11 October 1999 headed by N. Chandrababu Naidu as the Chief Minister following the 1999 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election. The cabinet was sworn in a simple ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Hyderabad. Initially the chief minister and eight other ministers of his council of ministers were administered the oath of office and secrecy by the then Governor C. Rangarajan. The cabinet was later expanded and reshuffled for four times citing several reasons on different occasions during the five year tenure to end on 14 May 2004.

<i>NTR: Mahanayakudu</i> 2019 Telugu language film

NTR: Mahanayakudu is a 2019 Indian Telugu-language biographical film, based on the real life and political career of N. T. Rama Rao, produced by Nandamuri Balakrishna, Sai Korrapati, Vishnu Vardhan Induri under NBK Films, Vaaraahi Chalana Chitram, Vibri Media banners and directed by Krish Jagarlamudi. It is the second movie in a two-part series, with the first being NTR: Kathanayakudu. The film stars Nandamuri Balakrishna, Vidya Balan, Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, Rana Daggubati in the lead roles and its music is composed by M. M. Keeravani. The film received positive reviews and yet bombed badly at the box office.

Andhra Pradesh, retrospectively referred to as United Andhra Pradesh, Undivided Andhra Pradesh, or Ummadi Andhra Pradesh, was a state in India formed by States Reorganisation Act, 1956 with Hyderabad as its capital and was reorganised by Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014. The Andhra Pradesh Decentralisation and Inclusive Development of All Regions Act, 2020 is an act of Andhra Pradesh Legislature aimed at the decentralisation of governance in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The bill was proposed by the Government of Andhra Pradesh to establish three capitals at different places in the state namely Visakhapatnam, Amaravati, and Kurnool, which will serve as executive, legislative and judicial capitals respectively.
