The Department of Tourism is a West Bengal government department. It is an interior ministry mainly responsible for the administration of the development of Tourism in West Bengal. [1] [2]

Introduction

The Department of Tourism, Government of West Bengal, is responsible for the development of tourism in the state of West Bengal. The Department of Tourism in West Bengal is engaged in facilitating the services for promotion of tourism.

Facilities

The Department has a unit named West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation which has many tourist centers all around the state in various districts, where online booking is also available. The Department has taken a number of initiatives and also offering various packages through WBTDCL throughout the year as well as on special occasions and festivals like Durga Puja, One of the biggest festivals of the world, Christmas, Poush Mela, Basant Utsav, etc. The Department has a digital presence through its website, Mobile app, social media, radio, and TV, as well as audio-visual mediums.

The Sundarbans National Park is a national park, tiger reserve and biosphere reserve in West Bengal, India. It is part of the Sundarbans on the Ganges Delta and adjacent to the Sundarban Reserve Forest in Bangladesh. It is located to south-west of the Bangladesh. The delta is densely covered by mangrove forests, and is one of the largest reserves for the Bengal tiger. It is also home to a variety of bird, reptile and invertebrate species, including the salt-water crocodile. The present Sundarban National Park was declared as the core area of Sundarban Tiger Reserve in 1973 and a wildlife sanctuary in 1977. On 4 May 1984 it was declared a national park. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site inscribed in 1987, and it has been designated as a Ramsar site since 2019. It is considered as a World Network of Biosphere Reserve from 1989.

Furfura Sharif is a village in Jangipara community development block of Srirampore subdivision in Hooghly District in the state of West Bengal, India. It is a holy place for some Bengali Muslims. Before the afternoon prayers, people queue up at the mazar (shrine) of Mohammad Abu Bakr Siddique (1846–1939), a prominent pir of the town. People say it is the second most prominent mazar in the country after Ajmer Sharif Dargah in Rajasthan.

The Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy, previously known as the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic, is the ministry in charge of preservation and promotion of Kyrgyzstani culture in the republic and abroad. The ministry has its roots from the Soviet Union's Ministry of Culture, although the current ministry did not succeed directly from the Soviet ministry. Moreover there were no ministries or state committees for tourism in the Soviet Union, because tourists to and from non-communist countries were highly restricted and few in numbers.
