Edge of Sanity was a Swedish death metal band that, alongside Opeth, is commonly regarded as being the first to fuse extreme metal styles like death and black metal with progressive rock. The group was founded by Dan Swanö in 1989 and ended in 2003.
Chris Reifert is an American death metal musician, and one of the pioneers of the death/doom genre. Although his music is more death metal than doom metal, he is one of the first musicians that blended the two styles. He played drums on the Death debut album, Scream Bloody Gore. Since he parted ways with Chuck Schuldiner in 1987 after Schuldiner moved back to Florida, Reifert decided to stay in the San Francisco Bay Area, and in 1987 he formed his own band, Autopsy. In this band, he played not only drums but handled the vocals as well. After several albums, Autopsy split up in 1995 and Reifert and bandmate Danny Coralles began playing in their side-project, Abscess, full-time. After Abscess dissolved in 2010, Autopsy reformed and is currently planning to tour and record new material.
Marduk is a Swedish black metal band formed in Norrköping in 1990. The band released their debut full-length album, Dark Endless, in 1992 on No Fashion Records. Their name is derived from the Ancient Babylonian deity, Marduk.
Macabre is an American extreme metal band from Chicago. Since their formation in 1985, the band has featured the same three members with no lineup changes. The group's style blends thrash metal, death metal, and grindcore. Lyrically, Macabre have a strong focus on serial killers, mass murderers and humorous elements. The group is currently signed to Nuclear Blast.

It includes a re-mixed version of the Skydancer track; "Alone", with Mikael Stanne's vocals instead of Anders Fridén's. The EP was reissued as Skydancer/Of Chaos and Eternal Night. Crimson II is the eighth and final full-length studio album by Swedish death metal band Edge of Sanity and is a continuation of the storyline first heard on the album Crimson (1996). It is the only Edge of Sanity release that does not feature original members Andreas Axelsson, Sami Nerberg, Anders Lindberg and Benny Larsson. It also doesn't feature Opeth frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt, who was the special guest on Crimson 'I'. Instead, it features contributions from guest musicians Mike Wead, Jonas Granvik, and brothers Roger and Simon Johannson.
Here's No Peace is the second EP by Swedish black metal band Marduk. It was recorded and mixed at Hellspawn Studios in December 1991, but remained unreleased for almost six years until October 1997, when it was released by Shadow Records. The EP features a drastically different line-up than Marduk actually was by this time, with differences including Andreas Axelsson on vocals, Rikard Kalm on bass, and Joakim Göthberg on drums and additional vocals; Dan Swanö was also the mixer of the recording. The only member of the personnel to have remained with Marduk by the release of Here's No Peace was guitarist Morgan Steinmeyer Håkansson who remains part of the band to this day.

Dark Endless is the only Marduk studio album to feature Andreas Axelsson on vocals and Rikard Kalm on bass, as by Marduk's second album Those of the Unlight, they had been replaced by Joakim Göthberg and B. War respectively.

Initially the group was a side-project of two members of At the Gates. The band announced in December 2007 that they were on indefinite hiatus. However in November 2009, Skitsystem signified their return to activity after the group announced plans to play two shows in Gothenburg in late February 2010.
