Derek Whitson (born 21 June 1989) is a Canadian ice sledge hockey player.
Whitson was born in Chatham, Ontario in 1989, with cerebral palsy. He joined the Canadian Sledge Hockey Team in 2007 after playing sledge hockey in the Windsor Ice Bullets sledge hockey program. [1] He was a member of the Canadian sledge hockey team that won the silver medal at the 2009 World Sledge Hockey Challenge, [1] as well as the one that competed in the 2010 Winter Paralympics. [1] He was also a member of team who won the gold medal in the 2013 IPC Sledge Hockey World Championships in Korea. [2] Whitson also is a player of football 7-a-side, in which he won a bronze medal at the 2007 Pan-American Games in Rio de Janeiro. [1] He is also an avid golfer and artist, in which he has donated pieces of his art to art auctions in support of Canadian athletes. [1]
Whitson moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta in 2014 where he then became engaged to Tara Chisholm who is the current coach of the Canada women's national ice sledge hockey team.
Sledge hockey, also known as Para ice hockey, is an adaptation of ice hockey designed for players who have a physical disability. Invented in the early 1960s at a rehabilitation centre in Stockholm, Sweden, and played under similar rules to standard ice hockey, players are seated on sleds and use special hockey sticks with metal "teeth" on the tips of their handles to navigate the ice. Playing venues use an ice hockey rink.

Todd Nicholson, is a Canadian former ice sledge hockey player. He was a member of the 2010 Paralympic Sledge Ice Hockey team, the fourth Paralympic games that Nicholson participated in. He announced his retirement from the Canadian ice sledge hockey team on September 7, 2010. Nicholson now serves on the International Paralympic Committee Governing Board as the Athletes' Representative.

Declan Farmer is an American ice sled hockey player and Paralympic gold medalist. Competing at the 2014 Winter Paralympics, he won a gold medal in ice sledge hockey at the 2014, 2018 and 2022 Winter Paralympics.
Corbin Watson is a Canadian Paralympic ice sledge hockey goalkeeper whose team won 3–0 against Norway and received bronze medal at the 2014 Winter Paralympics. Previously, he participated at the 2013 IPC World Sledge Hockey Championships where he and his team won gold medals. An amputee, he lost his lower right leg following a car crash in 2006. Following the accident he joined Canadian sledge hockey team called Windsor Ice Bullets 2 years later in Windsor, Ontario where he was inspired by Ray Grassi, his teammate. In 2009 he won a gold medal at the Défi sportif tournament.
