The ice sledge hockey competition of the 2014 Winter Paralympics was held at the Shayba Arena in Sochi, Russia, from 8 to 15 March 2014. A total of eight teams competed in the mixed team tournament. [1]

At the 2006 Winter Paralympics, the ice sledge hockey events were contested at the Torino Esposizioni.
The first IPC Ice Sledge Hockey European Championships was held between April 10, 2005 and April 16, 2005 in the eastern Moravian city of Zlín, Czech Republic. Participating 80 athletes from six nations: Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Great Britain, Italy and Sweden. The best European team joined the already qualified teams from Canada, Japan, Norway, Sweden, the USA and host country Italy to the Torino 2006 Paralympic Winter Games.
The 2002 Winter Paralympics ice sledge hockey tournament was held from 8 March to 15 March 2002 at the E Center in West Valley City, Utah, United States.
The 2014 IIHF World Championship was hosted by Belarus in its capital, Minsk, held from 9 to 25 May 2014. Sixteen national teams were competing in two venues, the Minsk-Arena and Chizhovka-Arena. It was the first time Belarus hosted the tournament. The selection of Belarus to host this competition was the subject of much debate, with some politicians in the European Union and North America calling for the IIHF to move the tournament to another country.

Steven Cash is an American former ice sled hockey player from the United States. Cash was a member of the United States men's national ice sledge hockey team for 16 seasons after making his debut in the 2005–06 season. He is a three-time Winter Paralympic Games gold medalist.
Joshua Pauls is an ice sled hockey player from USA and Member of the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team. He took part in the 2010 Winter Paralympics in Vancouver, where USA won gold. They beat Japan 2–0 in the final.
The 2013 IIHF U18 World Championship was the 15th IIHF World U18 Championship and was hosted in Sochi, Russia. This was also a test event for the facilities to be used in the 2014 Winter Olympics. It began on 18 April 2013 with the gold medal game played on 28 April 2013.

The 1998 Olympic women's ice hockey tournament was the first year that featured women in ice hockey competition. It was anticipated that the women's gold medal match would feature Canada versus the United States. Canada was favored to come out on top as they had won all the competitions in previous years in women's hockey, with the United States perpetually finishing second, while no other national teams could match their level of play. However, the United States beat Canada in the final and became the first country to win gold in women's ice hockey at the Olympics.
Nikolay Terentyev is a Russian ice sledge hockey player from Murmansk. He is a double-amputee who initially began playing for White Bears in Moscow and two months later appeared at Russian Championships. Since then he participated at the 2013 IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships at which he was the youngest to compete at. Even though he spent only 4 minutes at the game he and his team managed to win bronze medal. In September 2013 he took part at the International "4 Nations" Tournament which was followed by World Sledge Hockey Challenge which was hosted in Toronto, Canada in December of the same year. While there, he played 5 games in which he scored 5 goals and tied himself with Greg Westlake. During the 2014 Winter Paralympic Games in Sochi, Russia his team won a silver medal. Prior to it he scored a goal against Norway during which tournament his team won 4–0.
Yu Man-gyun is a South Korean sledge hockey goalkeeper who used to be a wheelchair basketball player. During his career, he scored 2.66 goals and did .815 percentage of saves. In 2013, his save percentage was .894 despite the fact that his team lost 5–2 to Canada at the 2013 World Sledge Hockey Challenge. In 2012, he won silver medal at the 2012 IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships which was hosted at Hamar, Norway. Yu was a member of South Korea's bronze medal winning team in para ice hockey at the 2018 Winter Paralympics.
Tyler McGregor is a Canadian sledge hockey player, and captain of Canada’s national para hockey team.
Daniel Frank McCoy was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with spina bifida. He is an ice sled hockey player from the US and former member of the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team. Dan took part in the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi, where USA won the gold medal. The US defeated Russia 1–0 in the final. McCoy retired from international competition in 2018 but continues to play within North America on the Pittsburgh Mighty Penguins Sled Hockey Senior team where is a player/coach. See penguinssledhockey.org. McCoy has been an inspiration for perseverance and determination as he continues to challenge himself to rise above his disability.
The women's tournament in ice hockey at the 2018 Winter Olympics was held in Gangneung, South Korea between 10 and 22 February 2018. Under a special agreement with the IOC and the IIHF, twelve North Korean players joined the host team to form a united team. They were allowed to have an expanded roster of 35 where 22 players dress for each game. Three North Korean players were selected for each game by coach Sarah Murray.
The Para ice hockey competition of the 2018 Winter Paralympics was held at Gangneung Hockey Centre, South Korea, from 10 to 18 March 2018. A total of eight teams competed in the mixed team tournament. Lena Schrøder from Norway has become the second female Para ice hockey player at the Paralympic Games after Britt Mjaasund Øyen.
The 2019 World Para Ice Hockey Championships was the 10th edition of World Para Ice Hockey Championships held in 2019. The championships were divided into three tournaments.
The 2021 World Para Ice Hockey Championships was the 11th edition of the World Para Ice Hockey Championships held in 2021.
The Para ice hockey competition of the 2022 Winter Paralympics was held at the Beijing National Indoor Stadium, China, from 5 to 13 March 2022. A total of seven teams competed in the mixed team tournament.
The 2023 World Para Ice Hockey Championships was the 12th edition of World Para Ice Hockey Championships held in 2023. The tournament was hosted by Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan in Canada from May 28 to June 3. It was the first time Canada has ever hosted the Championships.
