Doe Maar was a Dutch pop band that combined punk, ska, and reggae influences. Formed in 1978, they broke up in 1984, reunited in 2000, and remained sporadically active from then until 2021, when their frontman, Henny Vrienten, died. They are considered to be one of the most successful pop bands in Dutch history. Throughout their career, the band released five studio albums, four live albums, ten compilations, and numerous singles.

The song was produced by Dutch producer Sergio van Gonter, better known as Reverse, and co-written by Van Gonter, Pardoel and Ricardo de Rooy. The single became a great success in the Netherlands and Belgium. "Ik neem je mee" is the most successful Dutch-language song in the Dutch Top 40 and the Mega Top 50 ever.

The single was released on 4 December 2009 through TopNotch. It was produced by Big2, and co-written by Twan van Steenhoven, Yousef Gnaoui, Gerwin Pardoel and Steffen Haars. At first, "Nergens zonder jou" was recorded only by Guus Meeuwis, for his eighth studio album Armen open, without rap vocals by Gers Pardoel. Pardoel's debut studio album Deze wereld is van jou was released in November 2011 and was certified Platinum by the NVPI. The Nederhop artist is best known for his number-one single "Ik neem je mee", which became the most successful Dutch-language and Dutch-artist hit in the Dutch Top 40 ever.

A fish doorbell is a system that allows fish to pass through a closed sluice gate through crowdsourced input when fish are present. The Utrecht Visdeurbel uses a livestreamed underwater camera that allows users to press a doorbell button to notify the lock operator that there are fish swimming in the gracht, and that the lock should be opened. It is designed to aid in seasonal fish migration, as an alternative to a physical fish ladder. The purpose of the project is to increase the survival of local fish that are otherwise vulnerable to predation during migration.
