Dieter Notz (born 18 September 1955) is a German cross-country skier. He competed in the men's 15 kilometre event at the 1980 Winter Olympics. [1] He also competed in long-distance running, placing tenth in the short race at the 1985 World Mountain Running Trophy, 20th at the 1988 Berlin Marathon, and seventh at the Munich Marathon that same year. [2]

Cape Verde competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. Their participation marked their fourth Olympic appearance. Two Cape Verdeans competed in the Olympic games: Nelson Cruz participated as a marathon runner, and Wania Monteiro participated in gymnastics. Another athlete, Lenira Santos, was selected to compete in athletics but was forced to pull out due to injury. Monteiro was selected as the flag bearer for both the opening and closing ceremonies. Neither of the Cape Verdeans progressed beyond the first round.

Dunky Wright, born Duncan MacLeod Wright on 22 September 1896, was a Scottish athlete who competed for Great Britain in the 1924 Summer Olympics, in the 1928 Summer Olympics, and in the 1932 Summer Olympics. He was born and died in Glasgow.

Demissie Wolde is an Ethiopian former marathon runner. He won the Košice Peace Marathon in 1969 in 2:15:37. He also competed in the 1964 Olympic marathon, having qualified by running 2:19:30 on 3 August for 3rd place, in the Ethiopian Olympic trials, a race held at 8,000 feet. After being among the leaders for much of the 1964 Olympic race, he finished tenth in 2:21:25.2. At the 1972 Summer Olympics, he placed 18th in 2:20:44.0 in the marathon. He is the younger brother of Mamo Wolde who dropped out of the race in 1964, won the Olympic Marathon in 1968, and who finished 3rd in 1972.

Mary Julie Isphording is a retired female long-distance runner from the United States. She competed for her native country at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California. However, she did not reach the finish line there. Isphording set her personal best in the classic distance (2:30:54) in 1989.

Tommy Hughes is an Irish long-distance runner. He competed in the men's marathon at the 1992 Summer Olympics. In October 2019, aged 59, he ran the Frankfurt Marathon in a time of 2:27:52, a world record for his age. His son Eoin Hughes, aged 34, finished the same race in 2 hours 31 minutes 30 seconds. Their combined time of 4:59.22 was the fastest ever by a father-son duo in a marathon. On October 24, 2020, he ran the marathon in 2:30:02 at age 60 to break the ratified age group record by over 6 minutes.
