Background

After his world title shot against Tyson Fury in April ended in a stoppage defeat, Whyte linked up with new trainer Buddy McGirt ahead of his comeback fight against unbeaten Jermaine Franklin. [4]

The fight

The fight was largely uneventful, however Whyte hurt Franklin with a clean left hand at the end of the 12th round. One judge had it 115-115 with the other two scoring it for Whyte 116-112. [2] [3]
