The Director General of Directorate General of Forces Intelligence of Bangladesh is the professional head of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (abbreviated as DGFI). It is the main defence intelligence agency of Bangladesh. [1] [2]

The Directorate General of Forces Intelligence, commonly known by its acronym DGFI, is the defense intelligence agency of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, tasked with collection, collation and evaluation of strategic and topographic information, primarily through human intelligence (HUMINT). As one of the principal members of the Bangladesh intelligence community, the DGFI reports to the Director-General under the executive authority of the head of government, the Prime Minister, and is primarily focused on providing intelligence for the Prime Minister, the Cabinet of Bangladesh, and the Armed Forces of Bangladesh.
The National Security Intelligence, commonly known as the NSI, is the principal civilian intelligence agency of Bangladesh. The NSI's headquarters is in Segunbagicha, Dhaka. The NSI is the leading body of the Government of Bangladesh in the field of internal security, counter terrorism, counter intelligence and foreign intelligence. NSI is the largest among the intelligence agencies in Bangladesh, the others being the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), SB, CID, PBI and intelligence directorates of armed and paramilitary forces. The agency stands under the direct authority of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
The Bangladesh Intelligence Community is a group of several intelligence agencies charged with carrying out intelligence-gathering activities considered necessary for the conduct of foreign relations and national security of Bangladesh including other functions vital for the national security of Bangladesh.

Counter Terrorism and Intelligence Bureau, more commonly known as CTIB, is a Bangladeshi elite covert intelligence unit of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence, trained by DGFI, CIA and other special forces around the world. The unit is tasked with combatting terrorism, gathering information about any internal or external threat to Bangladesh and counter-attack. Since the formation of CTIB in 2006, terrorist activities have decreased in Bangladesh.

Earlier, he was adjutant general of the Bangladesh Army. He was also the vice chairman of Trust Bank's board of directors. He served as General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 55 Infantry Division & Area Commander of Jessore Area. He also served as the director of Counter-Terrorism Intelligence Bureau (CTIB) of Directorate General of Forces Intelligence. He served as commander of 46th Independent Infantry Brigade. He also served as additional director general (operations) of the Rapid Action Battalion.
Mohammad Saiful Abedin, BSP, ndc, psc is a retired major general in the Bangladesh Army. He was General officer commanding (GOC) of the 24th Infantry Division and Area Commander, Chattogram Area. He is the former director general of DGFI. He previously served as Commandant of Defence Services Command & Staff College (DSCSC). He also served in 71 Mechanized Brigade as Commander.

He is the former general officer commanding (GOC) of the 10th Infantry Division and area commander, Cox’s Bazar Area and 33rd Infantry Division and area commander, Cumilla Area.
Hamidul Haque nswc, psc is a retired major general of Bangladesh Army and former Managing Director of Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory. Before that, he served as the director general of Directorate-General of Forces Intelligence. Prior to joining DGFI, he was the general officer commanding of the 17th Infantry Division and Sylhet area commander.
Aynaghor is a colloquial term referring to a network of clandestine detention centers which were operated by the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), the intelligence branch of Bangladesh's defense forces during the autocratic rule of Hasina regime. These facilities have been linked to enforced disappearances and human rights abuses during the tenure of Sheikh Hasina as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, particularly from 2009 to 2024. The existence of Aynaghor has sparked significant controversy and has been consistently denied by the Hasina regime, which has faced widespread criticism from human rights organizations and activists.
