Distant Soundz is one of the pseudonyms of British electronic dance musician, Mark Christopher Shrimpton. [1] Shrimpton has released various singles on vinyl and CD under the name.
In early 2002, Distant Soundz recorded and released a garage cover of Cyndi Lauper's 1984 ballad, "Time After Time" with singer Robbie Beaumont, who made an appearance on Never Mind the Buzzcocks in the 'Identity Parade' round promoting the re-release of the single. The track received considerable airplay in the UK, and a video was made. Shrimpton performed the hit live on various TV appearances including Channel 4, BBC Wales, and on BBC One's Top of the Pops . The cover is also credited as one of the few UK garage records to be played on BBC Radio 2, with Steve Wright championing the single on his afternoon show. The track peaked at No. 20 on the UK Singles Chart in March 2002. [2]
Following this was the DJ Sasha-supported Distant Soundz song "Runaway" that became a Capital 95.8 favourite. Various performances of the single were made at Capital Radio 'Party in the Parks' and Emap 'Feel the Noise' events. Released on Incentive / Ministry of Sound, the single has been featured on countless compilation albums, television programmes and an Xbox commercial.
Distant Soundz' next single, titled "Just Wanna Luv U", featured vocalist Damae from Fragma. Again receiving support across the Capital Network, the single gained airplay both in the UK and overseas. Released on the Inferno label, "Just Wanna Luv U" was also featured on various compilations.
The single "Stay (With the Sun Comin Up)" was first supported in the UK by BBC Radio One DJ, Judge Jules.
Distant Soundz teamed up with Rozalla on their latest single, "Lovefool", which was released in 2009 on Clubland Records.
2012 saw Distant Soundz release the UK garage single "Fairytales" featuring model Sydney Jo Jackson. The song received considerable support from UK specialist and pirate radio DJs including DJ EZ (Kiss 100). The official music video for "Fairytales" was playlisted on various Sky channels.
Dream Warriors were a Canadian hip hop duo from Toronto, Ontario, comprising King Lou and Capital Q. Described as "a pair of deft, intelligent rappers" by John Bush of AllMusic, they were major contributors to the jazz rap movement of the early 1990s. Their 1991 debut album, And Now the Legacy Begins, was cited by Bush as one of the finest alternative hip hop records of the golden era. Before the release of their second album Subliminal Simulation in 1994, the duo became a group with the addition of rapper Spek and DJ Luv. In 1996, they released a third album, The Master Plan, before the two new members left the group a year later. Though their subsequent releases did not garner similar commercial success as their debut, the duo released a well-received greatest hits album in 1999. Their final album, The Legacy Continues..., was released in 2002.
Oxide & Neutrino are an English DJ and MC garage duo from London, consisting of Alex Rivers (Oxide), and Mark Osei-tutu (Neutrino).
Shara Nelson is an English singer and songwriter. She worked with Massive Attack in the early 1990s, and as a solo artist had five UK top 40 hit singles. Her 1993 debut album, What Silence Knows, was shortlisted for the Mercury Music Prize.

Daniel Edward Stein, known professionally as DJ Fresh, is an English DJ and record producer. He is one of the principal members of the drum and bass group Bad Company, alongside Darren White (dBridge), Jason Maldini and Michael Wojcicki (Vegas). He also owns and runs the drum and bass label Breakbeat Kaos with Adam F.
Luv' were a Dutch girl group that scored a string of hit records in Continental Europe as well as Israel, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Argentina and Mexico in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The original members were Patty Brard, José Hoebee and Marga Scheide. In 1979, Luv' was 'Holland's best export act' and thus received the Conamus Export Prize.
Kaleidoscope are an English psychedelic rock band from London that originally were active between 1967 and 1970. The band's songs combined the elements of psychedelia with whimsical lyrics. The band were also known at various times as The Sidekicks, The Key, I Luv Wight and Fairfield Parlour.
"Luv Me, Luv Me" is a song by Jamaican-American reggae singer Shaggy. It was first released on 25 July 1998 with Janet Jackson credited as a featured artist. The song was re-recorded in 2000 with Samantha Cole's vocals after Jackson's label withheld the song from being included on Shaggy's next album. It was released on 31 May 2001 as the third official single from his 2000 album Hot Shot.
"Gotta Get Thru This" is the debut single of New Zealand-British singer Daniel Bedingfield. The song was released in November 2001 as the lead single from his debut studio album of the same name (2002). The track, along with some others, was recorded in Bedingfield's bedroom with his PC and a microphone, using the music software Reason.
Danny Byrd is an English DJ, record producer and musician from Bath in the South West of England. He is influenced by genres such as house, UK garage, R&B and the jungle sound. He primarily releases his music through Hospital Records, the UK-based independent dance music label. In 2009, his track "Red Mist VIP" reached number one on the UK Dance Chart on the week ending 25 July 2009, and on 7 February 2010, his remix of Liquid's Sweet Harmony gave him his first success on the UK Singles Chart, making No. 64. In October 2010, Byrd reached No. 36 in the UK Singles Chart with the track "Ill Behaviour".
Oliver Dene Jones, known as Skream, is an English electronic music producer based in Croydon. Skream has released records on several British record labels, such as Tempa, Tectonic, and Big Apple Records, and has performed throughout Europe, the US, Canada, Australia, and Japan, as well as the UK. Skream is considered an early and influential exponent of the dubstep genre.
André Tanneberger, better known by his stage name ATB, is a German DJ and producer of trance music. According to the official world DJ rankings governed by DJ Magazine, ATB was ranked No. 11 in 2009 and 2010, and No. 15 in 2011. In 2011, he was ranked as world No. 1 according to "The DJ List". He is best known for his 1998 single "9 PM ", which was a No. 1 single in the United Kingdom. The song's hook would later be reworked into "Don't Stop!" in 1999 for his debut album, Movin' Melodies, becoming a hit in its own right.
The Heartless Crew are a UK garage crew from North London. The group has been credited for paving the way for grime music, alongside So Solid Crew and Pay As U Go.
Cherise Roberts is an English singer and songwriter who is a member of dance-pop duo Cherise & Nadia a.k.a. Booty Luv. She is also a former member of the hip hop/R&B group Big Brovaz. She has been with both groups since they both started. Roberts released a solo album, Look Inside before the debut album Nu-Flow by Big Brovaz was released. It only spawned one single, "2nd Best", while the album won a MOBO award.
Marvin Richard James Humes is an English singer-songwriter, disc jockey, radio host, television presenter, and former actor. Before rising to prominence as a member of the British boy band JLS, he had an acting role in Holby City. As part of JLS, he achieved five number-one singles on the UK Singles Charts and a number-one album on the UK Albums Charts. As of December 2013, they have sold over 10 million records worldwide.
Daniela Marina Elisabeth Klein, known by her stage name Damae, is a German TV presenter and singer-songwriter who debuted as a vocalist on the Fragma track "You Are Alive". At the age of 14, Damae was discovered by a photographer from the teen magazine Bravo in Germany and began modeling. Soon after, she started receiving offers from music and film producers which she declined, preferring to sing and write in a punk band, and to do freelance and studio gigs. She later met Ramon Zenker, who she admired from Hardfloor. He invited her to his studio to see if they could work together. Damae describes the musical chemistry between them as "amazing" and Damae soon found herself with a record deal as the singer for Fragma. Following the success of Fragma, Damae became the presenter for Dance:District on onyx.tv in Germany and got to interview Paul van Dyk, Tiësto, WestBam, Jean Jacques Smoothie, Junior Jack, Boogie Pimps, Milk & Sugar, Mousse T. and many more.
Young Kato were a British six-piece indie pop band from Cheltenham, England. Formed in 2011, the band consisted of Tommy Wright, Jack Edwards, Joe Green, Joe Lever, Harry Steele and Sam Henderson.
DJ S.K.T is an English record producer, DJ and label manager, known for his work involving house, and tech house.
UK garage, abbreviated as UKG, is a genre of electronic dance music which originated in England in the early to mid-1990s. The genre was most clearly inspired by jungle, but also incorporates elements from dance-pop and R&B. It is defined by percussive, shuffled rhythms with syncopated hi-hats, cymbals, and snares, and may include either 4/4 house kick patterns or more irregular "2-step" rhythms. Garage tracks also commonly feature 'chopped up' and time-stretched or pitch-shifted vocal samples complementing the underlying rhythmic structure at a tempo usually around 130 BPM.
M&S, also known as M&S Productions, were an English songwriting and music production team, based in London and consisted of garage DJs Ricky Morrison and Fran Sidoli. During the late 1990s and early 2000s they collaborated with various artists on remixes and their own singles, using a variety of aliases. M&S are best known for their song "Salsoul Nugget ", which reached the top 10 of the UK Singles Chart in 2001.
