Divo is an Indian-based record label headquartered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. They are known for film music and digital media productions. [1] [2] In 2023, Warner Music Group acquired a majority stake in Divo. [3]

History

Divo was established in 2014 by Shahir Muneer [4] as a startup online video company in South India. The company's initial focus was on the Tamil market, which subsequently expanded to other regions within South India. [4] Since inception, the company has worked for well known musicians including A. R. Rahman, Dhanush, Anirudh Ravichander, Yuvan Shankar Raja and many others. [5] [6]

In 2020, Divo expanded its offerings to include content, digital, and influencer marketing services. [7]

In a strategic content-sharing partnership with Airtel Xstream, Divo launched the "Divo Movies" channel in 2021, bringing Tamil content to users. This collaboration allows subscribers to access Divo's catalog of Tamil films, including premieres and titles featuring actors such as Rajinikanth, Vijay, Ajith, and GV Prakash. [8]

In 2022, the company collaborated with regional content creators to launch exclusive podcasts on Spotify in various Indian regional languages. Divo provided support in creative production, post-production, podcast operations, and promotional activities. Notable content creators onboarded include Urlo Muchatlu from the Anil Geela Podcast, Prasad from Tech In Telugu with Prasad, and regional creators such as RJ Sha, RJ Ananthi, Aranthangi Nisha, Rajmohan, Rishipedia, Kishen Das, Shanthnu & Kiki, and MaKaPa Anand. In 2023, Warner Music Group acquired a majority stake in Divo. [10]

Services

Divo offers video and music distribution, marketing and copyright management for film studios, TV channels, musicians and music platforms. [11] The company also offers reputation management for brands, celebrities, and films. [6]

Activities

As of 2024, Divo distributes over 30,000 music tracks. The company receives over 2 billion views monthly.

Pudhukottaiyilirundhu Saravanan is a 2004 Indian Tamil-language romantic adventure film written and directed by S. S. Stanley. The film stars Dhanush and newcomer Aparna Pillai. The music for the film was scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja, while Krishnakanth produced the venture. The film was released on 14 January 2004, coinciding with Thai Pongal.

Bhanu Chander is an Indian actor, director and producer known for his works predominantly in Telugu and Tamil cinema. He is the son of veteran music composer Master Venu. His paternal family hails from Machilipatnam and maternal family hails from Rajahmundry. He was born near Madras. He is known for his association with directors like K. Viswanath, Balu Mahendra, B. Narsing Rao, and K. Balachander. In 1990, he starred in Sutradharulu, which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu for that year.

Kadhal 2 Kalyanam is an unreleased Tamil-language romantic comedy film directed by newcomer Milind Rau that stars debutante Sathya, brother of Tamil actor Arya, and Ramya, whilst, Jayashree, Nagendra Prasad, Kasthuri and Anuja Iyer play pivotal roles. Noted film critic Baradwaj Rangan had written the dialogues, while Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the film's score and soundtrack. The cinematography and editing were handled by P. S. Vinod and Leo John Paul, respectively. Pre-production works began by mid-2008, while the filming continued for over one year, being completed by July 2010. The film was jointly produced by Mirchi Movies and East Coast Entertainment, who are now not in the film-making business. Hence the movie remains unreleased.

Ceylon Manohar, popular name of A. E. Manoharan also known as Surangani Manohar, was a pop singer and actor. He has played roles in Tamil films and other Sri Lankan Tamil works. Manoharan was 73 when he died in Chennai of age-related ailments.

"Thuli Thuli" is a song from the 2010 Tamil feature film Paiyaa, composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The song, with lyrics by Na. Muthukumar and performed by Haricharan and Tanvi Shah, was released as part of the soundtrack album of the film on 12 February 2010.

The film stars Dhanush in dual roles, alongside Trisha, Anupama Parameswaran, Saranya Ponvannan, S. A. Chandrasekhar, Kaali Venkat, Namo Narayana and G. Marimuthu. In the film, a politician has to compete against his lover, and his twin brother is also dragged into the conflict.

The film features music composed by Karthik Raja, editing by Bhuvan Srinivasan, and cinematography by Rajavel Mohan. Padaiveeran was released on 2 February 2018.

Maari 2 is a 2018 Indian Tamil-language action comedy film written and directed by Balaji Mohan. It is a sequel to his 2015 film Maari. Dhanush, besides producing the film under his company Wunderbar Films, also stars as the title character, continuing his role from the first film. The film also stars Tovino Thomas,Sai Pallavi, Krishna and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. The music was composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, the cinematography was done by Om Prakash and editing by Prasanna GK. The film was released on 21 December 2018 and received mixed reviews from critics, becoming a box office failure.

T. G. Thyagarajan is an Indian film producer. He made his debut as film producer with critically acclaimed film Moondram Pirai. He is the founder of the production and distribution company Sathya Jyothi Films. He has produced over 30 films and few television series with the production studio. His father Venus Govindarajan was also a reputed film producer.

Pyaar Prema Kaadhal is the soundtrack to the 2018 film of the same name directed by debutant Elan, starring Harish Kalyan and Raiza Wilson. The soundtrack to the film features 12 songs composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja with lyrics written by Niranjan Bharathi, Vivek, Madhan Karky, Mohan Rajan, Oviya Oompathy and Elan himself. It was preceded with two singles: "High On Love" and "Dope Track", before the full album being released through Yuvan's music label U1 Records and Divo on 29 July 2018.
