Dizzy is a Canadian indie pop band from Oshawa, Ontario, [1] whose debut album Baby Teeth won the Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2019. [2]

Contents

Consisting of vocalist Katie Munshaw and instrumentalists Alex, Mackenzie and Charlie Spencer, [1] the group released Baby Teeth in 2018. [3] The Spencers are brothers. [4] The album was promoted with a concert tour in Canada, the United States and Europe, [5] and the tracks "Swim", "Pretty Thing" [6] and "Backstroke" [5] were released as singles.

In addition to the Alternative Album of the Year category, the group were also nominated for Breakthrough Group of the Year. [7]

On February 26, 2020 Dizzy released the single "Sunflower", [8] and on July 31, 2020 the band released their second album, The Sun and Her Scorch. [9] The album received another Juno Award nomination for Alternative Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2021. [10]

On March 29, 2023, Dizzy announced their third studio album Dizzy, which was released on August 18, 2023. [11] The album received their third Juno nomination for Alternative Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2024. [12]

Jessica Reyez is a Canadian singer and songwriter. Her 2016 single "Figures" peaked at number 58 on the Canadian Hot 100 in 2017 and was certified triple Platinum by Music Canada and Platinum by the RIAA. Her 2017 EP, Kiddo, led to four nominations at the 2018 Juno Awards, winning Breakthrough Artist. Her follow up EP, Being Human in Public, was released in 2018. It won R&B/Soul Recording of the Year at the 2019 Juno Awards and was nominated for Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 2020 Grammy Awards. Reyez again won the R&B/Soul Recording of the Year, for "Feel it Too" with Tory Lanez and Tainy, at the 2020 Juno Awards, where she was also nominated for Artist of the Year. Reyez has written songs for Calvin Harris, Kehlani, Dua Lipa and Normani, most notably penning the hit "One Kiss", and has collaborated with Eminem on multiple occasions. Snotty Nose Rez Kids are a First Nations hip hop duo composed of Haisla rappers Darren "Young D" Metz and Quinton "Yung Trybez" Nyce. They are originally from Kitamaat Village, British Columbia. Their 2017 album The Average Savage was shortlisted for the 2018 Polaris Music Prize, and for the Juno Award for Indigenous Music Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2019. In 2018, the duo received nominations for Best Hip Hop Album at the Indigenous Music Awards, and for Indigenous Artist of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards. Haviah Mighty is a Canadian rapper from Brampton, Ontario. She rose to prominence in 2016 as a member of the hip hop group the Sorority, before releasing several EPs on her own, most notably Flower City, in 2017. Her first album, 13th Floor, was released in 2019 and won the Polaris Music Prize. After her debut, XXL named her one of the "15 Toronto rappers you should know" and CBC Music called her one of the "New Faces of Canadian Hip Hop".

Oluwatobi Feyisara Ajibolade, known professionally as Tobi , is a Nigerian born Canadian singer and rapper signed to RCA Records and Same Plate Entertainment. He released his debut studio album Still in May 2019, his second album Elements Vol. 1 in 2020, and his third album PANIC in 2023.

Crown Lands is a Canadian rock music duo from Oshawa, Ontario. The band consists of vocalist/drummer Cody Bowles, and guitarist/bassist/keyboardist Kevin Comeau. With prog-rock influences, the duo compose music and lyrics inspired by Indigenous resistance to colonialism. They have stated that their name, "Crown Lands", communicates a desire to disrupt the concept of Canadian "crown land", or government-held lands stolen from First Nations.
