Harry "Doc" Bundy (born January 25, 1946) from Scio, Ohio, is an American former race car driver who competed in IMSA (International Motor Sports Association), 24 Hours of Le Mans, NASCAR Rolex Grand-Am Sports Car Series, American Le Mans Series, USRRC, and SCCA World Challenge.
Bundy's motorsports career began as a wheel polisher and technician for Porsche driver Peter Gregg in 1973.[ citation needed ] The following year, he moved to Al Holbert Racing, where he spent the next five years preparing cars. In 1980, Bundy began driving for Holbert Racing in a Porsche 924, capturing a National Championship as a rookie. He followed that by driving a Porsche 924 Turbo and took a class win in the GTO Category at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Over the next few years, he would drive for Lotus, Jaguar, Ford, and Chevrolet (Corvette), topped with a season racing a Porsche 962. Bundy shared driving duties in the Hendrick Motorsports IMSA Chevrolet Corvette GTP with Sarel Van Der Merwe from 1986 through the 1988 season when Hendrick abandoned the Corvette project. He was involved in a serious crash with Lyn St. James and Chip Robinson at the 1986 Riverside Grand Prix. [1]
In 1982, Bundy raced and won SCCA TransAm competition, in GTP driving the well-known group 44 Jaguar, in GTO with a Mustang, GTP Corvette, Showroom Stock, and has won Road Atlanta and Miami in a Lotus X180R. In 1992, Bundy was crowned Bridgestone Supercar Champion.
In the early 1990s, Bundy drove the Esprit X180R for Lotus as the team's number one driver in IMSA's Bridgestone Supercar Championship, winning the Driver's Title and Manufacturer's Championship for Lotus in 1992. Lotus teammates Andy Pilgrim and David Murry featured prominently in the standings, with additional varied drivers that included Paul Newman.
Bundy drove in the 1997 24 Hours of Le Mans in a David Price Racing Panoz Esperante GTR-1. He currently drives Lotus Elite, Lotus 23B, and 1978–79 John Player Special (Car #1) for Regogo Racing Team.[ citation needed ]
After the collapse of the Bridgestone Supercar Championship, Bundy became a TV announcer. He continued to drive, instruct, consult, and act as a spokesperson for Lotus, Panoz, and Porsche. In 2011, he signed with Paul Rego at a vintage Lotus racing team named Regogo Racing as their driver in Regogo's first professional season. Doc has become an award-winning driver for Regogo. An avid historic racer, Doc drives a Lotus 23b, and Mario Andretti's 1979 John Player Speciall which Paul Rego purchased and restored in 2011. It made its debut at Barber Motorsports Park in 2012. Doc has been driving for Regogo Racing since 2011 and continues to enjoy first-place finishes.[ citation needed ]
In January 2020, Doc was hospitalized with the COVID-19 virus and subsequently underwent heart surgery to repair damage caused by the virus. [2]

The International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) is a North American sports car racing sanctioning body based in Daytona Beach, Florida under the jurisdiction of the ACCUS arm of the FIA. It was started by John Bishop, a former executive director of SCCA, and his wife Peggy in 1969 with help from Bill France Sr. of NASCAR. Beginning in 2014, IMSA is the sanctioning body of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the premier series resulting from the merger of Grand-Am Road Racing and the American Le Mans Series. IMSA is owned by NASCAR, as a division of the company.

The Porsche 962 is a sports prototype racing car designed and built by Porsche. Created to replace the Porsche 956, 962 was introduced at the end of 1984 and replaced the 956 in the IMSA's GTP class in 1985 due to regulation changes obsoleting the 956. It was also introduced in the World Sportscar Championship's Group C category in 1984. Over its decade-long career, the car in its Group C form won the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice, with a derivative of the car, the Dauer 962 Le Mans, winning a further title in 1994. In total, the 962 scored nineteen total constructor's championships across various series. The 962's successor was the Porsche WSC-95, introduced for the 1996 24 Hours of Le Mans, but did not receive factory backing or support.

The 2023 24 Hours of Daytona was an endurance sports car race sanctioned by the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA). The event was held at Daytona International Speedway combined road course in Daytona Beach, Florida, on January 28–29, 2023. This event was the 61st running of the 24 Hours of Daytona since its inception in 1962, and the first of 11 races across multiple classes in the 2023 IMSA SportsCar Championship, as well as the first of four rounds in the 2023 Michelin Endurance Cup. The No. 60 Meyer Shank Racing Acura, driven by Tom Blomqvist, Colin Braun, Hélio Castroneves and Simon Pagenaud, took the overall win, but the team was later penalized for tire pressure data manipulation, resulting in penalties, fines and probation for those responsible. This was Meyer Shank's second Rolex 24 win in a row, and their third major endurance race win in four events. The No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Acura finished second overall and scored the most points towards the GTP championship.
The 2023 Petit Le Mans was the 26th running of the Petit Le Mans, and was held on October 14, 2023. The event was the 11th and final round in the 2023 IMSA SportsCar Championship, and the fourth round of the 2023 Michelin Endurance Cup. The race was held at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia.
