The Hong Kong men's national cricket team is the team that represents Hong Kong in international competition. It played its first match in 1866 and has been an associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) since 1969.
The Papua New Guinea men's national cricket team, nicknamed the Barramundis, is the team that represents the country of Papua New Guinea in international cricket. The team is organised by Cricket PNG, which has been an Associate Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) since 1973. Papua New Guinea previously had One-Day International (ODI) status, which it gained by finishing fourth in 2014 World Cup Qualifier. Papua New Guinea lost both their ODI and T20I status in March 2018 after losing a playoff match against Nepal during the 2018 Cricket World Cup Qualifier, a result that earned ODI and T20I status for their opponents. On 26 April 2019, PNG defeated Oman to secure a top-four finish in the 2019 ICC World Cricket League Division Two and reclaim their ODI status.

The 2015–2017 ICC World Cricket League Championship was the second edition of the ICC World Cricket League Championship. It took place from 2015 until 2017, in parallel with the 2015-17 ICC Intercontinental Cup. Both Ireland and Afghanistan had been promoted to the main ICC ODI Championship and did not compete in this tournament. Instead, Kenya and Nepal were included in the tournament. The tournament was played in a round-robin format. All matches were recorded as List A matches, and those in which both teams had ODI status were also recorded as ODIs.

Alei Nao is a Papua New Guinean cricketer. He made his List A debut in the 2015–17 ICC World Cricket League Championship on 28 May 2016 against Kenya. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut on 31 March 2017 against the United Arab Emirates in the 2015–17 ICC World Cricket League Championship. He made his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut on 12 April 2017, also against the United Arab Emirates.
Alu Kapa is a cricket umpire from Papua New Guinea. He is currently a member of ICC Associates and Affiliates Umpire Panel. Kapa has stood in matches in the 2015–17 ICC World Cricket League Championship. He was one of the eight umpires to stand in matches in the 2016 ICC World Cricket League Division Four tournament. He made his One Day International (ODI) umpiring debut in a match between Papua New Guinea and Scotland on 24 November 2017. He stood in his first Twenty20 International (T20I) match between the Philippines and Vanuatu in the Regional Final of the 2018–19 ICC World Twenty20 East Asia-Pacific Qualifier tournament on 23 March 2019.
Kyle Christie is a Hong Kong cricketer. In 2016, Christie responded to an advert that Cricket Hong Kong posted on Facebook for Hong Kong-born cricketers who are overseas. Later that year, he made his international debut for the Hong Kong national cricket team.
Adnan Mufti is a Pakistani-born cricketer who played for the United Arab Emirates national cricket team. He played 46 first-class and 19 List A matches between 2007 and 2016 in Pakistan. In December 2016 he was named in the United Arab Emirates squad for their Twenty20 International (T20I) series against Afghanistan. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut for the United Arab Emirates against Scotland on 24 January 2017 and was awarded the man of the match. He made his T20I debut for the United Arab Emirates against Papua New Guinea on 14 April 2017.
The Papua New Guinea national cricket team toured the United Arab Emirates in March and April 2017 to play three One Day Internationals (ODIs), three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) and a first-class match. Two of the three ODI matches were part of the 2015–17 ICC World Cricket League Championship and the first-class match was part of the 2015–17 ICC Intercontinental Cup tournament. Before the international fixtures, Papua New Guinea played warm-up matches against the English sides Middlesex County Cricket Club and Yorkshire County Cricket Club.
Damien Ravu is a Papua New Guinean cricketer. He made his first-class debut for Papua New Guinea in the 2015–17 ICC Intercontinental Cup on 1 October 2017. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut against Scotland on 25 November 2017.
Kiplin Doriga is a Papua New Guinean cricketer. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut against Scotland on 24 November 2017. He made his first-class debut against Hong Kong in the 2015–17 ICC Intercontinental Cup on 29 November 2017.

The 2019 ICC World Cricket League Division Two was an international cricket tournament that took place in April 2019 in Namibia. It was contested by six teams; Canada, Hong Kong, Oman, Papua New Guinea, the United States and tournament hosts Namibia. It formed part of the 2017–19 cycle of the World Cricket League (WCL) which determined the qualification for the 2023 Cricket World Cup. The final and third-place playoff match were granted One Day International (ODI) status by the International Cricket Council. Namibia won the tournament, after they beat Oman by 145 runs in the final. It was Namibia's first win in an ODI match, and it was the first ever ODI match played by Oman.
Riley Hekure is a Papua New Guinean cricketer. In September 2019, he was named in Papua New Guinea's One Day International (ODI) squad for the 2019 United States Tri-Nation Series. He made his ODI debut against Namibia, on 23 September 2019. Prior to his ODI debut, he was named in Papua New Guinea's squad for the 2014 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
