The Dolomites SkyRace is an international skyrunning competition held for the first time in 1998. It runs every year in Italian Dolomites in July and consists of two races SkyRace and Vertical Kilometer both valid for the Skyrunner World Series. [1]
The Skyrunner World Series is an annual international championship of skyrunning and the official International Skyrunning Federation (ISF) race circuit for mountain running. Each year the Skyrunner World Series presents a global Sky Racing calendar, attracting mountain running athletes from almost every country.
Skyrunning is a sport of mountain running up to or exceeding 2,000 metres (6,600 ft) where the minimum average incline is 6% over the total distance and at least 5% has an incline of 30% or more. The climbing difficulty does not exceed II grade UIAA. Poles, crampons and hands may be used to aid progress. The governing body is the International Skyrunning Federation. The sport comprises a number of different disciplines from the short, steep Vertical Kilometer to the more popular SkyRace and SkyMarathon. Ultra SkyMarathons are becoming increasingly popular as are short vertical SkySpeed races which include skyscraper racing.
Agustí Roc Amador is a Spanish ski mountaineer and long-distance runner. He is a three-time champion of the Skyrunner World Series from 2002 to 2004, European vertical race champion in 2005, and Spanish vertical race champion from 2005 to 2007.

Kílian Jornet Burgada is a Catalan professional sky runner, trail runner, ski mountaineer and long-distance runner. He is a six-time champion of the long-distance running Skyrunner World Series and has won some of the most prestigious ultramarathons, including the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc, Grand Raid, the Western States Endurance Run and the Hardrock Hundred Mile Endurance Run.
