Dominique Taishaun Hatfield (born December 13, 1994) is an American former professional football cornerback. He played college football at Utah and signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2017.

Early life

Hatfield attended and played high school football at Crenshaw High School in Los Angeles, California. He recorded 33 receptions, 586 receiving yards, four receiving touchdowns, nine rushing attempts and 100 rushing yards his junior year in 2011. He also totaled 25 tackles and three pass breakups while averaging 29.8 yards on five punt returns. Hatfield recorded eight interceptions his senior year in 2012 while playing both wide receiver and cornerback. [1] He also earned MaxPreps First-team Division I All-State, Los Angeles City Section Defensive Player of the Year and Coliseum League Player of the Year honors in 2012. [1] [2]

College career

Hatfield played for the Utah Utes of the University of Utah from 2013 to 2016. He began his college career as a receiver. He played in 11 games in 2013, catching 4 passes for 84 yards while also returning seven kick returns for 116 yards and recording 7 solo special teams tackles. [1] [3] After a season-ending injury to cornerback Reginald Porter in August 2014, Hatfield began to see time at cornerback. [4] [5] Hatfield played the first game of the 2014 season as a receiver but converted to cornerback full-time by the second game. [1] He played in 13 games, starting 10, recording 32 solo tackles, 6 tackle assists, 9 pass breakups and 1 interception which was also returned for a touchdown. [6] [1] In July 2015, he was suspended indefinitely and later dismissed from the football team after being charged with robbery. He was arrested for aggravated robbery in July 2015 when he allegedly held a man at knifepoint for $180. As a result, head coach Kyle Whittingham dismissed Hatfield from the program for one whole month. The charges were later dropped. [7] In August, he was charged with misdemeanor assault stemming from a fight at a party. [8] After missing the first game of the 2015 season, Hatfield was reinstated by the team. [8] [9] He played in 12 games, starting 11, in 2015, recording 27 solo tackles, 6 tackle assists, 2 pass breakups and 4 interceptions, including 1 that was returned for a touchdown. [10] [1] He missed the first three games of the 2016 season due to injury. He then played in 9 games, starting 6, totaling 24 solo tackles, 6 tackle assists, 4 pass breakups and 1 interception. [11] [1] Hatfield was a team captain in 2016. [12] He did not play in the 2016 Foster Farms Bowl due to an unspecified violation of team rules. [13] Head coach Kyle Whittingham said the violation was not an academic or legal issue and that it "would've merited a one-game suspension in the regular season". [14]

Los Angeles Rams

Hatfield was rated the 77th best cornerback in the 2017 NFL draft by NFLDraftScout.com. [15] He signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent on May 16, 2017. [16] He played in 11 games after making the Rams final roster, but was waived on December 9, 2017, and was re-signed to the practice squad two days later. [17] [18] He signed a reserve/future contract with the Rams on January 8, 2018. [19]

On September 1, 2018, Hatfield was waived by the Rams and was signed to the practice squad the next day. [20] [21] He was promoted to the active roster on September 26, 2018. [22] He was placed on injured reserve on December 11, 2018, after suffering an ankle injury in Week 14. [23] Without Hatfield, the Rams reached Super Bowl LIII where they lost 13–3 to the New England Patriots.

Hatfield was waived/injured during final roster cuts on August 31, 2019, [24] and reverted to the team's injured reserve list the next day. He was waived from injured reserve with an injury settlement on September 10.

Carolina Panthers

On December 18, 2019, Hatfield was signed to the Carolina Panthers practice squad. He signed a reserve/future contract with the Panthers on December 30, 2019. [25] He was waived on April 30, 2020. [26]

Hatfield had a tryout with the Detroit Lions on August 13, 2020. [27]

Ottawa Redblacks

Hatfield signed with the Ottawa Redblacks of the CFL on January 6, 2021. [28] He was released on July 29, 2021. [29]

Robb-Davon Butler is an American former professional football defensive back who played one season with the San Diego Chargers of the National Football League (NFL). He was a three-year letterman in both football and track at Perry Traditional Academy in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He earned All-State honors in football for his senior year in 1998. Butler played college football at Pittsburgh for two years as a cornerback. He then transferred to Robert Morris and played wide receiver. He redshirted his first season and caught 29 passes for 459 yards his second season. Butler converted to strong safety his senior season in 2003 and earned first-team Division I-AA All-American honors. After going undrafted in the 2004 NFL draft, he signed with the Chargers. He played in five games for the Chargers in 2004, recording seven total tackles and two kickoff returns. He later spent time with the Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Brigade, Erie RiverRats and Wheeling Wildcats.

Williams played in 44 games, of which he started 21, during his college career, recording 66 tackles and 6.5 sacks. After going undrafted in the 2015 NFL draft, he signed with the New York Jets and spent time on the team's practice squad before being released in September 2015. He was then signed by the Dolphins, where he spent time on both the practice squad and active roster from 2015 to 2016. Williams played in one game for the Dolphins. He played college football at Rutgers, where he was a three-year letterman. In 2013, Longa was named a Freshman All-American after leading NCAA Division I in tackles by a freshman with 123. He was named third-team All-Big Ten Conference in 2015. He started 37 games during his college career and recorded 342 tackles, which was the third most in school history. Longa forwent his final year of college eligibility to enter the 2016 NFL draft. After going undrafted, he signed with the Seattle Seahawks. He was released by the Seahawks before the start of the 2016 season and was then signed by the Lions, with whom he played for until 2019. Trevor Williams is an American former professional football cornerback who played for the San Diego / Los Angeles Chargers, Arizona Cardinals, and Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL). He played high school football at Calvert Hall College High School in Towson, Maryland, where he was a two-year letterman and two-year team captain. He was named first-team All-State his senior year in 2011. Williams played college football at Penn State for four years. He was named honorable mention All-Big Ten Conference in 2014 and 2015. He played in 49 games during his college career, recording 84 tackles and five interceptions. After going undrafted in the 2016 NFL draft, he signed with the Chargers. He started 15 games for the Chargers in 2017 due to a season-ending injury to Jason Verrett. Despite being graded by Pro Football Focus as the 10th highest performing cornerback of the 2017 season, Williams was later benched in 2018 and struggled with injuries before being released by the Chargers in October 2019. Jarrod Wesley Pughsley is an American former professional football offensive guard who played for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). He played football and basketball at Lima Senior High School in Lima, Ohio. He played college football at Akron, where he was a four-year letterman. Pughsley was named third-team All-MAC his senior year in 2013. He played in 35 games, and started 23 of them, during his college career. After going undrafted in the 2014 NFL draft, he signed with the Dallas Cowboys. However, Pughsley suffered an injury and was released in July 2014. He was then a member of the Chiefs from 2014 to 2016, spending the majority of the time on the practice squad. He played in two regular season games and one playoff game for the Chiefs in 2015. Pughsley was signed to the Baltimore Ravens' practice squad in November 2016 and was released by the team before the start of the 2017 regular season.
