Members Joel Madden and Benji Madden originally wrote the song for a film soundtrack alongside John Feldmann, but it did not appear in the film. According to Joel Madden, the song is about "not living the way that you're supposed to live", and Benji Madden added that the song is about achieving one's goals.
"Never Gonna Leave Your Side" is the fifth single released from New Zealand-British singer Daniel Bedingfield's first album, Gotta Get thru This (2002). Issued in Australia on 30 June 2003 and in the United Kingdom on 21 July 2003, the song became Bedingfield's third number-one song on the UK Singles Chart, topping the chart on the week of 27 July 2003. The song also peaked at No. 11 in Ireland and No. 13 in New Zealand.

Colorblind is the first album by Australian singer Candice Alley, released in Australia on 23 September 2003 by Universal Music Group. The album is a mix between an Alternative rock and pop songs – written and co-written by Alley and album producers John Holliday, Trevor Steel and Peter-John Vettese. The album debuted on the Australian ARIA Albums Chart outside the top fifty at number sixty-four and spent two weeks in the top one hundred. Two singles were released from the album in Australia; "Falling", became Alley's first top ten single and was nominated for an ARIA Award and "Dream the Day Away" was a minor hit just peaking in the top fifty.
"Into You" is the third single from American rapper Fabolous's second studio album, Street Dreams (2003), featuring either Ashanti or Tamia. The song also appears on Tamia's album More. "Into You" originally featured Ashanti, but after Irv Gotti of Murder Inc. Records refused to let her film a music video to promote the single, Fabolous reached out to Tamia to re-record a commercial version. Both the album and single versions received heavy radio-play, resulting in all three artists being credited on the US Billboard Hot 100. The single was released through Elektra Records and DJ Clue's Desert Storm Records.
"Baby Boy" is a single released in 2003 by British hip hop-R&B group Big Brovaz. The single is the fourth single taken from Big Brovaz' 2002 debut album, Nu-Flow. "Baby Boy" became Big Brovaz' fourth UK top-10 hit, peaking at number four and spending three months on the UK Singles Chart. It was released as the fifth and final single from the band's debut album, Middle of Nowhere (1997), on May 4, 1998. The single was a success in Australia and Finland, reaching number six in both countries, and in New Zealand and the United Kingdom, where it peaked within the top 30. "Thinking of You" was not released in the United States, but in Canada, it peaked at number 10 on the Canadian Singles Chart.

Labelmate and fellow R&B singer Alexander O'Neal shares vocals with Mary Davis during the bridge. "The Finest" was released as a single in 1986.
"The Day You Went Away" is a song by English pop/soul group Soul Family Sensation. The track served as the third single from the group's debut studio album, New Wave, and was released in February 1992 on One Little Indian Records. It was written by Guy Batson and Johnny Male. Despite the success of their first single, "I Don't Even Know If I Should Call You Baby", which peaked at No. 49 on the UK Singles Chart, "The Day You Went Away" did not chart. In 1992, Australian singer-songwriter Wendy Matthews covered the song, which reached No. 2 on the Australian Singles Chart and won two ARIA Music Awards.
