Drenthe University of Applied Sciences

Drenthe University of Applied Sciences (Dutch: Hogeschool Drenthe) is a former vocational university in the Netherlands. Located in the province of Drenthe, its departments were scattered across the cities of Assen, Emmen, and Meppel. Since 2008, it is merged with CHN University of Applied Sciences (Christelijke Hogeschool Nederland) to Stenden University of Applied Sciences .^[1]

History

In terms of its name, Stenden University of Applied Sciences is fairly new (January 2008). Yet the college has a long history, being the result of a merger between Christelijke Hogeschool Nederland (CHN) and Hogeschool Drenthe (HD). The merger partners each have their own genesis history, which began in Meppel in 1845 with the private education for teachers.

In Emmen, Assen and Meppel the three pabos were started. In the early 1980s the laboratory training IHBO was added in Emmen and not long after that the HEAO. In the mid-1980s, these programs merged to form Hogeschool Drenthe. In 1987, location Leeuwarden began youth welfare work and the Hotel Management School Leeuwarden (HMSL), which then merged to form Christelijke Hogeschool Noord Nederland (CHNN). Since January 2008, Hogeschool Drenthe merged with Christelijke Hogeschool Nederland (CHN) in Leeuwarden to form Stenden Hogeschool. Since then, both locations Emmen and Leeuwarden have expanded; in addition to Dutch students, students from other European countries and from Asia also study there.

Meppel is a city and municipality in the Northeastern Netherlands. It constitutes the southwestern part of the province of Drenthe. Meppel is the smallest municipality in Drenthe, with a total area of about 57 km². As of 1 July 2021, it had a population of 34,506 with over 30,000 inhabitants within city limits.

Stenden University of Applied Sciences is a state-funded professional university in the north of the Netherlands. The University is the product of the merger in 2008 of Hogeschool Drenthe and Christelijke Hogeschool Nederland. Stenden University of Applied Sciences has more than 11,000 students.

Ede Christian University of Applied Sciences is a Christian vocational university located in Ede, Netherlands. The CHE has a clear Christian basis: the Bible as norm and source of inspiration.

Het Noord Nederlands Orkest is a Dutch symphony orchestra based in Groningen. The NNO performs at De Oosterpoort in Groningen and also on a regular basis at these venues in the provinces of Groningen, Friesland and Drenthe:

Stenden South Africa is an Institution of Higher Education, located in Port Alfred in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. It is a branch campus of Stenden University of Applied Sciences in The Netherlands. It was founded in 2002 and offers two specialised degree programmes: Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Disaster Management and Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) in Hospitality Management. Hospitality students may decide to add a year to their studies and obtain a double degree: The South African B.Com. and The Dutch Bachelor of Business Administration.

In addition to three main provinces, NDC publishes and distributes also in the Kop van Overijssel, Noordoostpolder, and northern Flevoland.

AP or in full Artesis Plantijn University College Antwerp, founded in 1995, is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the city of Antwerp and created as a merger between Artesis Hogeschool Antwerpen and Plantijn Hogeschool.
