Durham Bus Station serves the city of Durham, in County Durham, England. The bus station is managed by Durham County Council.
The station is situated on North Road, in the city centre. It is was closed from February 2021, [2] and was re-built between then & late 2023, before re-opening in January 2024. [3]
In September 2020, plans to redevelop the bus station were approved. [2] From 15 February 2021, all services were relocated to adjacent streets (North Road & Milburngate) in order to allow the bus station to be demolished. [4] [5] The new bus station was expected to open in late summer 2022. [6] In July 2022, it was announced that the project had been delayed to summer 2023. [7] In August 2023, it was announced that 'significant progress' had been made on the station; with work on drainage, the exterior, & green facilities still being undertaken. It was announced that the bus station was now expected to open in November. Final works & testing were completed towards the end of the year, and the bus station finally opened on the 7th of January 2024. [8]
Before redevelopment, Arriva North East, Go North East & National Express services ran from this bus station. Local buses ran around the city of Durham & surrounding suburbs. As of June 2020 [update] (before redevelopment), the stand allocation was:

After re-opening in January 2024, local bus services re-commenced operation from the station. The road & pavement where temporary bus stops were installed on North Road are to be re-instated during Spring 2024. [7] Buses, from the station, run to Durham's surrounding suburbs, as well as to Barnard Castle, Bishop Auckland, Consett, Crook, Hartlepool, Houghton le Spring, Langley Park, Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Peterlee, Seaham, South Shields, Stanley, Sunderland. [9] [10] [11] [12] Bus operators changed their service timetables to accommodate the new stand allocations in preparation for the station's opening. Heworth Interchange consists of a National Rail, Tyne and Wear Metro and bus station. Haxby railway station was a minor railway station serving the town of Haxby in the City of York, England. Located on the York to Scarborough Line it was opened on 5 July 1845 by the York and North Midland Railway. The Y&NMR became part of the North Eastern Railway in 1854 which in turn became part of the London and North Eastern Railway in 1923. It closed on 22 September 1930.
United Automobile Services was a bus company, which operated local and regional bus services in County Durham, Cumbria, Northumberland, North Yorkshire and Tyne & Wear, England. It provided bus services across a wide geographical area, stretching from the border town of Berwick-upon-Tweed in the north, Filey in the south, and Carlisle in the west.
Eldon Square Bus Station is one of two bus stations serving Newcastle City Centre. It is owned by Newcastle City Council and is managed by Nexus. The new glass-roofed bus station was built adjacent to the old bus station, on a former access road, and is accessible via the new mall.

Northern Trains, trading as Northern, is a British train operating company owned by DfT OLR Holdings for the Department for Transport (DfT), after the previous operator Arriva Rail North had its franchise terminated at the end of February 2020.
