Dutlwe is a village in Kweneng District of Botswana composed of people from the Bakgalagadi (tn) and Basarwa tribes. [1] The population of Dutlwe was 1,464 with 692 males and 772 females in the 2022 census. [2] As part of IDDS Botswana 2018, a bean thresher was installed in the village due to bean farming beaning one of the villages main sources of income. [3] [4] The village chief, Motshegetsi Puleng, was arrested for stabbing his girlfriend on July 4, 2020. [5] In November 2022, 2 village residents died after drinking tea that had been suspected to be poisened. 4 others in the family also went to the hospital, but barely survived. [6] [7] There is a Calvary Baptist church in the town led by Pastor Thokwane. [8]

Tshepo Motlhabankwe is a former Motswana footballer who played for various Botswana Premier League teams such as Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Township Rollers as well as teams in the South African Premier Division. He is also a former Botswana international, having scored 2 goals between his debut in 2003 and retirement in 2013.

Lejwana, Botswana is a small village in the Republic of Botswana in Africa. It is situated in the Southern District of Botswana. It lies between the coordinates 25°24'23S and 25°32'27E. It is situated between the villages of Gathwane, Pitsane, Kgoro and Digawana. Lejwana is about 30 km from Lobatse and about 100 km by road from the capital Gaborone.

Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi is the fifth and current President of Botswana, serving since 2018. He served as the 8th Vice President of Botswana from 12 November 2014 to 1 April 2018. He was a Member of Parliament in the National Assembly for the Moshupa-Manyana constituency from 2009 to 2018. Initially having a good relationship with former President Ian Khama, who appointed Masisi as Vice President, the two later clashed over a ban on elephant hunting, and Khama has since accused Masisi of having "stifled dissent". Coming to power in the 2019 elections, the opposition claimed irregularities and electoral fraud, however an observation mission from the African Union reported that the elections were conducted transparently and met international standards.

Gladys Keitumetse Theresa Kokorwe is a Botswana politician who was the Speaker of the National Assembly from 2014 to 2019. She is a member of the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).

Thapelo Matsheka is a Motswana politician and economist who served as the Minister of Finance and Economic Development from November 2019 to April 2021. He was elected as the Member of the National Assembly for Lobatse in October 2019. He is a member of the Botswana Democratic Party. Matsheka is the former Managing Director of Fiducia Services.

Botswana continued to address the COVID-19 pandemic in 2022, including the discovery of the COVID-19 variant Omicron BA.4 and BA.5, with COVID-19 restrictions being relaxed in October. Continued disputes took place regarding the Botswana–Namibia border, though an open border was established in September. The rivalry between President Mokgweetsi Masisi and his predecessor Ian Khama escalated in 2022, accelerated by firearms charges against Khama and a warrant for his arrest. The government also saw controversy for its support of bills that would grant it additional espionage powers and regulate journalists.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2024 Botswana general election</span> Election to the 13th Parliament of the Republic of Botswana

General elections will be held in Botswana in 2024 to elect a new National Assembly as well as local councils across the country. Ever since the first election in 1965, the Botswana Democratic Party has held a majority of seats in the National Assembly and thus governed alone for 56 years without interruption making Botswana a dominant-party system.
