Eddie Sharp Jr. (born August 12, 1964) is an American stock car racing team owner and former driver who formerly competed in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series and the NASCAR Busch Series. He is a former co-owner of Sharp Gallaher Racing, which competed in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and the ARCA Racing Series.

Racing career

Born in Clearwater, Florida in 1964, Sharp began his racing career as a powerboat racer, competing in hydroplanes along with his father, Eddie Sharp Sr., during the 1980s. [1]

Moving to automobile racing as a result of safety concerns, Sharp competed in local stock car races, [1] [2] moving up to the NASCAR Busch Series in 1993, competing two events with a best finish of 14th at Bristol International Raceway. [3] He then moved to compete in the American Speed Association's national tour, competing with only moderate success for several years, both as a driver and as a crew chief. [1]

Sharp's career as a crew chief saw success in the ARCA Racing Series, where he was the 1999 champion crew chief with driver Bill Baird. [1] He also served as a crew chief in the Sprint Cup Series for a number of races in the late 1990s with BAM Racing and drivers Shawna Robinson and Hermie Sadler. [1]

Team owner

Sharp's initial foray into team ownership was in 1999 in the ARCA Re/MAX Series; the effort proved unsuccessful and soon closed, however after some time away from the sport Sharp returned, founding Eddie Sharp Racing in 2005; competing in the ARCA Re/MAX Series, the team scored its first win at Kentucky Speedway in July 2007 with driver Michael McDowell. [4] The team won the 2009 ARCA championship with Justin Lofton. [5]

After a failed attempt to break into the NASCAR ranks with Woodard & Sharp Racing and driver Boston Reid in 2006, ESR began competing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2010, [2] and scored its first win in the series with Justin Lofton at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May 2012. [6]

2011 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series 17th season of third-tier NASCAR Camping World Truck Series

The 2011 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season was the seventeenth season of the third highest stock car racing in the United States. The season included twenty-five races, beginning with the NextEra Energy Resources 250 at Daytona International Speedway and ending with the Ford 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. During the 2010 season, NASCAR announced a few notable calendar changes, including a race addition at Kentucky Speedway and the removal of Gateway International Raceway from the schedule. DeLana Harvick won the owners' championship, while Austin Dillon of Richard Childress Racing won the drivers' championship with a tenth-place finish at the final race of the season. Chevrolet won the manufacturers' championship with 193 points.

Sharp Gallaher Racing Former NASCAR team

Sharp Gallaher Racing is a disbanded NASCAR team based in Mooresville, North Carolina that competed in the ARCA Racing Series and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. The team fielded the No. 6 Chevrolet Silverado for Justin Lofton and various other drivers and the No. 8 Chevrolet for Max Gresham.

Eddie MacDonald American racing driver

2021 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series 27th season of third-tier NASCAR Camping World Truck Series

The 2021 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is the 27th season of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, a stock car racing series sanctioned by NASCAR in the United States. The season began at Daytona International Speedway with the NextEra Energy 250 on February 12. The regular season will end with the race at Watkins Glen International on August 7. The NASCAR playoffs will end with the Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix Raceway on November 5. This season marks the 13th for Camping World Holdings as the series' title sponsor. After two years of advertising their Gander Outdoors retail chain in the title sponsorship, company CEO Marcus Lemonis announced on September 15, 2020 that the sponsorship would switch back to the Camping World brand beginning in 2021, which was the same name of the series from 2009 to 2018.

2021 ARCA Menards Series East 35th season of the ARCA Menards Series East

The 2021 ARCA Menards Series East season was the 35th season of the ARCA Menards Series East, a regional stock car racing series sanctioned by NASCAR in the United States. The season began on February 8 at New Smyrna Speedway with the Jeep Beach 175 and ended on September 16 at Bristol Motor Speedway with the Bush's Beans 200. Sammy Smith and Joe Gibbs Racing won the series championship. JGR's No. 18 car, driven by Smith and Ty Gibbs, won all but one race during the season.
