Edge Hill United FC is an Australian football club based in the Cairns, Queensland that plays in the fifth-tier Far North Queensland Premier League.
Edge Hill United FC was established in 1967.[1]
During 2019 and 2020, both the men’s and women’s teams achieved significant success in the community divisions of Far North Queensland, securing back-to-back trebles.[2][3]
In 2021, the club qualified for the FFA Cup as a fifth-tier side after defeating second-tier NPL Queensland club Magpies Crusaders United 3–1 in the final round of qualifying. This achievement made them the only community club to progress to the Final Rounds of the 2021 FFA Cup.[4] They were eliminated in the Round of 32 following a 2–0 defeat to Gold Coast Knights, conceding two late goals.[5]
In 2023, Edge Hill parted ways with the head coach despite the team securing both the League and Crad Evans Shield titles multiple times. The following year, the club qualified for the Champions League on the back of the 2023 league title but were defeated by St George Willawong FC under player-coach Ryan Murray. Their runner-up finish secured automatic qualification for the 2025 Champions League. Meanwhile, the Premier Women’s team, under long-serving coach Dean Ashton, claimed another treble in 2024, consolidating their status as one of the leading women’s sides in the region.[citation needed]
In 2025, Edge Hill United became the only club with all four senior teams reaching their respective Grand Finals. Both the Women’s U23 and Women’s Premier teams were crowned 2025 Premiers. Across the Senior and Junior FQPL competitions, the club had eight teams qualify for Grand Finals, with the U16 FQPL side finishing as both Premiers and Grand Final Champions. These results highlighted the strength of the club’s junior development pathway.
With over 510 registered players in 2025, Edge Hill United remained the largest club in Far North Queensland.
