Gadjah Mada University is a public research university located in Sleman,Special Region of Yogyakarta,Indonesia. Officially founded on 19 December 1949,Gadjah Mada University is one of the oldest and largest institutions of higher education in the country. It is widely known as the largest and the first state university in the nation. It has been credited as one of the best universities in Indonesia. In the 2023 QS World Universities Ranking,UGM is ranked 1st in Indonesia and 231st in the world.
Helmi Johannes is an Indonesian television newscaster and executive producer. Helmi Johannes now works for the Indonesian service of the Voice of America (VOA),based in Washington,DC. Helmi is responsible for the overall production,program development,talent and day-to-day operations of VOA Indonesian television programming.
Herman Johannes was an Indonesian professor,scientist,politician and National Hero. Johannes was the rector of Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta (1961–1966),Coordinator for Higher Education from 1966 to 1979,a member of Indonesia's Presidential Supreme Advisory Council from 1968 to 1978,and the Minister for Public Works and Energy (1950–1951). He was also a member of the Executive Board of UNESCO from 1954 to 1957.

Islamic University of Indonesia is a national private university in Yogyakarta,Indonesia. It was established on 27 Rajab 1364 or on 8 July 1945 as Islamic Higher School by political figures of the day including Dr. Mohammad Hatta,Mohammad Natsir,Mohammad Roem,Wahid Hasyim,and Abdul Kahar Muzakir. STI developed into a university called Universitas Islam Indonesia on 14 December 1947. Historically,UII is the first private university in Indonesia established after Indonesian independence and considered by some as the oldest private university in the country,although Jakarta Theological Seminary actually precedes it in 1934.

The International Indonesia Forum (IIF) is an organisation which holds annual interdisciplinary seminars in Indonesia in an attempt to "facilitate interactive engagement and participation of students and educators" both inside and outside of Indonesia. Originally developed as an offshoot of the Yale Indonesia Forum,it is now maintained independently. The seminar was first held in 2008 at Atma Jaya University,Yogyakarta;the eighth conference was held at Sebelas Maret University in Surakarta. The forum has published five books and hosts a working paper series on its website.

He frequently wrote and spoke about challenges of agricultural development in Indonesia. Later in his career he became known for his interest in Pancasila economics and ekonomi rakyat.
Beddu Amang was an Indonesian economist. He served as the head of the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) from 1995 to 1998. Born and raised in South Sulawesi,Beddu migrated to Yogyakarta and finished his university education at the Gadjah Mada University.
Sri Adiningsih was an Indonesian professor of economics at the Gadjah Mada University who served as the chairperson of the Presidential Advisory Council from 19 January 2015 to 20 October 2019. She had also served as a member of the People's Consultative Assembly ad hoc expert team in 2001 and became the secretary of the Constitutional Commission.
Ova Emilia is an Indonesian professor and writer currently serving as the 17th rector of Gadjah Mada University.
