Electro Morocco is an Israeli American electronic music band from Brooklyn, New York. Formed in 2007 by members of Nanuchka, they have released two EPs, Electro Morocco (2008) and Low Ride (2010) and were featured on the Shemspeed compilation album Sephardic Music Festival Vol. 1 (2010). They have remixed and produced songs for Y-Love, DeScribe, and Eprhyme. They are noted for their unusual blend of electronic, rock, and Middle Eastern music.

History

Electro Morocco was formed in 2007 in Brooklyn, New York. Founding members Yula Beeri, Roy Gurel, Shlomi Lavie, and Assaf Spector had previously been in the rock band Nanuchka together. The band's debut EP, Electro Morocco, was released by Shemspeed on April 22, 2008.

In 2009, the band performed at the 92nd Street Y as part of the Oyhoo Jewish Music Festival alongside Dov Rosenblatt, Y-Love, and Diwon. [1] Later that year, they joined Shemspeed's fifth annual Sephardic Music Festival alongside Pharaoh's Daughter and Yair Dalal. [2]

In early 2010, they appeared at the Boston Jewish Music Festival alongside Flory Jagoda, Ruth Dolores Weiss, Osvaldo Golijov, Golem, and the Klezmer Conservatory Band. [3] They also contributed their song "Joe Pill" to the Shemspeed compilation Sephardic Music Festival Vol. 1, [4] and released a second EP, Low Ride.

Musical style

Electro Morocco's style of electronic music contains elements of hard rock, hip hop, pop, and Middle Eastern music, and has been compared to Sri Lankan rapper M.I.A. [4] [5]

Cash Cash American electronic music group

Cash Cash is an American electronic music group from Roseland, New Jersey. The group consists of three DJs: brothers Jean Paul Makhlouf, Alex Makhlouf and Samuel Frisch. They produce, record, mix and master all their music together as a trio. They are currently signed to Big Beat Records and Atlantic Records, a subsidiary of Warner Music Group worldwide. The group's highest-charting song to date is their RIAA platinum-certified single "Take Me Home", which features vocals by Bebe Rexha. Eden Daniel Pearlstein, better known by his stage name Eprhyme, is an American Jewish rapper and producer based in Brooklyn, New York. While attending The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, he became involved with the Olympia music scene as half of the hip hop duo Saints of Everyday Failures, with which he released two albums. According to Nic Leonard of the Weekly Volcano, Eprhyme "played a major roll [sic] in the creation of the Olympia hip-hop scene." He was noticed by local independent label K Records, who released his first two singles, "Punklezmerap" and "Shomer Salaam". He then released his debut album, Waywordwonderwill (2009), through Shemspeed Records, before returning to K Records for his follow-up, Dopestylevsky (2011). He is currently part of the alternative hip hop groups Darshan, with vocalist Basya Schechter, and Ruthless Cosmopolitans, with Jon Madof.

20syl French rapper, record producer, and disc jockey

Sylvain Richard, better known by his stage name 20syl, is a French rapper, disc jockey and producer. He is a composer and MC in the group Hocus Pocus, member of beatmaker collective of DJs C2C, one half of the Hip Hop/Electronic duo AllttA and quadruple world champion DMC Team. He published his first EP, Motifs, in 2014, followed by Motifs II in 2015.

Punklezmerap 2008 single by Eprhyme

"Punklezmerap" is a song by American rapper Eprhyme, the lead single from his debut solo album Waywordwonderwill (2008). It was released by K Records on March 4, 2008. Produced by Smoke of Oldominion and featuring Nomy Lamm on vocals, the song heavily samples from klezmer and traditional Jewish music. Lyrically, the song details Eprhyme's musical and personal evolution. At the time of its release, "Punklezmerap" was the first K Records hip hop recording in over a decade.

Anoraak

Anoraak is the musical project of French musician Frédéric Rivière, multi instrumentalist, singer, producer and DJ, former drummer of Pony Pony Run Run. and member of the Valerie Collective along with artists such as College, Maethelvin, The Outrunners, Minitel Rose and Russ Chimes. Coming from the rock scene at first, he later came to electronic music, starting Anoraak beside his drummer position.

Massive Ego

Massive Ego are a British Darkwave musical group formed in 1996 by singer and ex-model, Marc Massive and Andy J Thirwall. The band has changed its sound and image since its formation. The original releases being mostly covers in a Eurodance, Hi-NRG style. Massive and Thirwall later parted ways, and Massive searched for a new musical direction for the band. Collaborations with Empire State Human and Lia Organa & Electric Prince were the start of a darker sound for the band. The band joined alternative German label Out of Line Music in 2015 with the line-up; Marc Massive, Oliver Frost, Lloyd Price and Scot Collins. Their debut album for Out of Line was released on 17 February 2017. The current themes of the songs centre around the darker side of life, depression and anxiety, death, suicide, love, sex and vampirism.
