Else Flebbe was a German figure skater who competed in both singles and pair skating. She was the German pair national champion in 1924 with Rudolf Eilers. [1] She later represented Germany in the women's singles event at the 1928 Winter Olympics. [2] [3] At her last international competition, the 1931 European Championships, she placed eighth. [4]
Kristine Tsuya Yamaguchi is an American former competitive figure skater, author and philanthropist. A former competitor in women's singles, Yamaguchi is the 1992 Olympic champion, a two-time World champion, and the 1992 U.S. champion. In 1992, she became the first Asian American to win a gold medal in a Winter Olympic competition. As a pairs skater with Rudy Galindo, she is the 1988 World Junior champion and a two-time national champion.
Elena Viktorovna Berezhnaya is a Russian former pair skater. With partner Anton Sikharulidze, she is the 1998 and 1999 World champion, 1998 Olympic silver medalist and 2002 Olympic champion.
Ekaterina "Katia" Alexandrovna Gordeeva is a Russian figure skater. With her late husband Sergei Grinkov, she is the 1988 and 1994 Olympic Champion, a four-time World Champion, a three-time European Champion, the 1990 Goodwill Games champion, 1987 Soviet champion, and 1994 Russian champion in pair skating. After Grinkov's death, Gordeeva continued performing as a singles skater.
Barbara Ann Underhill is a hockey skating coach and Canadian former pair skater. With partner Paul Martini, she is the 1984 World champion, the 1979–1983 Canadian national champion, and the 1978 World Junior champion. They represented Canada at the 1980 Winter Olympics, where they placed 9th, and at the 1984 Winter Olympics, where they placed 7th. In 2009, she was named to the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame. Since retiring from competition, Underhill has worked as a skating coach for several National Hockey League teams.
Tamara Nikolayevna Moskvina is a Soviet and Russian pair skating coach and former competitive skater. Competing in pairs with Alexei Mishin, she became the 1969 World silver medalist and Soviet national champion.
Ludmila Yevgenyevna Belousova was a Soviet and Russian pair skater who represented the Soviet Union. With her partner and husband Oleg Protopopov, she was a two-time Olympic champion and four-time World champion (1965–1968). In 1979, the pair defected to Switzerland and became Swiss citizens in 1995. They continued to skate at ice shows and exhibitions through their seventies.
Tanja Szewczenko is a German former figure skater. She is the 1994 World bronze medalist, 1997 Champions Series Final silver medalist, 1998 European bronze medalist, and 1993 World Junior bronze medalist.
Anna "Annie" Hübler was a German pair skater, born in Munich. She was an Olympic champion and two-time World champion with skating partner Heinrich Burger.
Marika Kilius is a German former pair skater. With Hans-Jürgen Bäumler, she is a two-time Olympic silver medalist, a two-time World champion, and a six-time European champion. Earlier in her career, she competed with Franz Ningel.
Aljona Savchenko is a retired Ukrainian-born German pair skater. One of the most decorated pair skaters, she is the 2018 Olympic Champion and a two-time Olympic bronze medalist, a six-time World Champion, a four-time European Champion, and a five-time Grand Prix Final champion.
Cecil Elaine Eustace Smith, later Gooderham, then Hedstrom, was a Canadian figure skater. In 1924 she became the first female figure skater to represent Canada at Winter Olympics; she placed sixth individually and seventh in pairs, together with Melville Rogers. At the 1928 Winter Olympics she finished fifth individually. In 1930, she won the silver medal at the World Figure Skating Championships in singles.
Jeannette Eleanor Wirz CBE was a British figure skater who competed in ladies' singles. She was the 1952 Olympic champion, the 1948 Olympic bronze medalist, the 1951 World champion, and a double European champion.
Ede Király was a Hungarian figure skater. As a competitor in men's singles, he was a three-time World medalist, the 1950 European champion, and a six-time Hungarian national champion. Competing in pairs with Andrea Kékesy, he became the 1948 Olympic silver medalist, the 1949 World champion, and a two-time European champion (1948–1949).
Evgeni Krasnopolski is a Ukrainian-born Israeli retired pair skater. Krasnopolski and Andrea Davidovich were the first pair representing Israel to qualify for Israel at the 2014 Olympics. They finished 15th in Sochi. Krasnopolski competed with Danielle Montalbano from 2009 to 2012. He competed for Israel at the 2018 Winter Olympics with Paige Conners in figure skating in pairs skating and a team event in Pyeongchang, South Korea. He and Hailey Kops competed at the 2021 CS Nebelhorn Trophy and qualified to compete for Israel at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
Daniel Wende is a German pair skater. With Maylin Wende, he is the 2010 Trophée Eric Bompard bronze medalist, the 2013 Nebelhorn Trophy silver medalist, and a two-time German national champion. They have competed twice at the Winter Olympics and have placed as high as sixth at the European Championships.
Vanessa James is a Canadian retired pair skater. Representing France with her former skating partner, Morgan Ciprès, she is the 2019 European Champion, the 2018 World bronze medallist, the 2017 European bronze medallist, the 2018 Grand Prix Final champion, and a six-time French national champion. They have also won medals in Grand Prix and Challenger Series competitions. James and Ciprès competed at the 2014 and 2018 Winter Olympics.
Marlene Elizabeth Smith was a Canadian figure skater who competed in both pairs and ladies' singles. As a pair skater with Donald Gilchrist, she became the 1949 North American silver medallist and a two-time Canadian national champion (1949–1950). As a singles skater, she is the 1949 North American silver medallist and 1952 national champion. She competed at the 1952 Winter Olympics.
Axel Rauschenbach is a German pair skater who competed for Germany and, before its reunification, East Germany. With Mandy Wötzel, he is the 1989 European silver medalist, the 1989 & 1990 East German national champion, and 1991 German national champion.
Annika Maria Hocke is a German pair skater. With her skating partner, Robert Kunkel, she is the 2023 European bronze medalist, the 2023 Skate America champion, 2022 Grand Prix de France bronze medalist, and has won five medals on the ISU Challenger Series, including gold at the 2022 CS Finlandia Trophy. They won two bronze medals on the 2019–20 ISU Junior Grand Prix series. Domestically they are the 2023 German national champions.
Rebecca Ghilardi is an Italian pair skater. With her skating partner, Filippo Ambrosini, she a two-time European Championship medalist, the 2022 Grand Prix of Espoo champion, a six-time ISU Challenger Series medalist, the 2024 Italian national champion, and a five-time Italian national silver medalist (2019-2023). The pair represented Italy at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
