Emily Abbot (born 28 February 1997) [1] is an Australian group rhythmic gymnast who represented Australia at the 2020 Summer Olympics. [1]
Emily Abbot was born on 28 February 1997 in Adelaide. She began rhythmic gymnastics when she was ten years old. [2] She graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2018 and is currently studying business at TAFE Queensland. She now lives in Brisbane and works as a disability support carer in addition to her gymnastics training. [3]
Abbot missed the 2016 season due to hip injuries. She first had a hip arthroscopy to repair a detached ligament, but then doctors discovered a bone tumor in her hip and she had another surgery to remove it. She returned to competition at the end of 2017. [4]
In October 2018, Abbot moved to Brisbane to train with Australia's senior rhythmic gymnastics group. [4] At the 2018 World Championships, she finished twenty-ninth with her group. [5] She represented Australia at the 2019 Summer Universiade. [6] She finished seventh in the group all-around, [7] seventh in the 5 balls final, [8] and fifth in the 3 hoops + 4 clubs final. [9]
She won a gold medal at the 2021 Oceanic Championships with the Australian senior group and qualified a quota for the 2020 Olympic Games. She was selected to represent Australia at the 2020 Summer Olympics alongside Alexandra Aristoteli, Alannah Mathews, Himeka Onoda, and Felicity White. [10] They were the first rhythmic gymnastics group to represent Australia at the Olympics. [11] They finished fourteenth in the qualification round for the group all-around. [12]
Lauren Stephanie Mitchell is an Australian former artistic gymnast. She is the 2010 World champion on the floor exercise and the 2009 World Championships silver medalist on the balance beam and floor exercise. Mitchell is only the second Australian female gymnast to win a medal at the World Championships, and she is the first to win a gold medal. She is the 2010 Commonwealth Games champion in the all-around, uneven bars, and balance beam, and with the Australian team, and she is the 2008 World Cup Final balance beam champion. She also represented Australia at the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games.
Laura Yihan Zeng is an American former individual rhythmic gymnast. She represented the United States at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics. She swept all of the events at the 2015 Pan American Games and at the 2018 Pan American Championships. She is the 2014 Youth Olympic and 2019 Summer Universiade all-around bronze medalist and the 2019 Grand Prix Final hoop bronze medalist. She is an eight-time national all-around champion, six times at the senior level and twice at the junior level (2013–14).
Lilia Igorevna Akhaimova is a Russian retired artistic gymnast. She represented the Russian Olympic Committee at the 2020 Summer Olympics and won a gold medal in the team event. She is a two-time World silver medalist and the 2018 European champion with the Russian team. She is also a six-time Universiade medalist.
Marina Nekrasova is a Russian-born artistic gymnast who has represented Azerbaijan since 2013. She is the 2019 Summer Universiade vault champion. At the 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games, she won gold in the team event and silver medals on the vault and balance beam. She is also a three-time World Challenge Cup vault champion. She competed at the 2020 Olympic Games, making her the first woman artistic gymnast to represent Azerbaijan at the Olympic Games.
Aiko Sugihara is a Japanese female artistic gymnast. She was the 2015 Asian team and all-around champion and uneven bars and floor exercise silver medalist. She was also the 2019 Summer Universiade champion with the team and silver medalist on the floor exercise. She represented Japan at the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games.

He is the 2019 World silver medalist and the 2018 World bronze medalist on the pommel horse. He is the 2018 Asian Games pommel horse champion and the 2019 Asian all-around champion. He is a three-time (2017, 2019 and 2021) Summer Universiade pommel horse champion.
Rut Castillo Galindo is a Mexican individual rhythmic gymnast. She represented Mexico at the 2020 Summer Olympics and became the first Mexican rhythmic gymnast to compete at an Olympic Games. She is the 2021 Pan American all-around champion. At the 2007 Pan American Games, she won the silver medal in hoop and the bronze medals in the all-around and clubs. She is an eight-time Central American and Caribbean Games champion. She has also competed at nine World Championships.
Barbora Mokošová is a Slovak artistic gymnast. She is the 2020 European bronze medalist on the uneven bars and the first gymnast representing Slovakia to receive a medal at the European Championships. She represented Slovakia at the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games. She is also a two-time World Challenge Cup champion on the uneven bars.
