Emmanuel Kipkemei Bett (born 29 March 1985) nb is a Kenyan long-distance runner who competes in track and road running events. He has a 10,000 metres personal best of 26:51.16 minutes, which was the fastest time in the world in the 2012 season.
He was a late-comer to the elite level of running and made his first professional appearances in 2010. Competing in Brazil, he finished second at the Rio de Janeiro half marathon, fifth at the São Paulo 15K and was runner-up at the Santos 10K. [1] He competed in Europe for the first time in 2011 and made his breakthrough in the 10,000 metres track event. He placed fourth at the high-profile Memorial Van Damme and set a best of 26:51.95 minutes. This ranked him in the top ten that year. [2] He ended the year with a win at the prestigious Zatopek 10 race in Melbourne. [3]
In 2012 he placed fourth in the 10,000 m Kenyan trial race at the Prefontaine Classic, running a time of 27:07.90 minutes. After setting a 5000 metres best of 13:08.35 minutes at the Bislett Games, he also ran the Kenyan trial race over that distance, but in fifth place he was not selected for the Kenyan Olympic team. Despite this, he won at the Memorial Van Damme meeting and his time of 26:51.16 was a personal best and the fastest 10,000 m by any athlete that year. [4] He also ran a personal best of 60:56 minutes at the Great North Run, taking fifth place at the half marathon, and was the winner at the Cross Internacional de Soria. [5] He retained his Zatopek 10 title that December. [6]
He opened 2013 on the cross country circuit and was runner-up at the Cross Internacional de Itálica and the Cross Internacional Juan Muguerza. He was in the top ten of the World's Best 10K and the 10,000 m at the Prefontaine Classic, then placed second at the Lilac Bloomsday Run. [5] He attempted to gain selection for the 2013 World Championships in Athletics, but was again out of the running with a fourth-place finish at the 10,000 m Kenyan trials. In October he was second only to Haile Gebrselassie at the Great Scottish Run and topped the podium at the Great South Run 10-mile race, seeing off a challenge from defending champion Stephen Mokoka. Kenenisa Bekele Beyecha is an Ethiopian long-distance runner. He was the world record holder in both the 5,000-metre and 10,000-metre from 2004 until 2020. He won the gold medal in both the 5,000 m and 10,000 m events at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. At the 2004 Olympics, he won the gold medal in the 10,000 m and the silver medal in the 5,000 m.
Haile Gebrselassie is an Ethiopian former long-distance track, road running athlete, and businessman. He won two Olympic gold medals and four World Championship titles over the 10,000 metres. Haile triumphed in the Berlin Marathon four times consecutively and also had three straight wins at the Dubai Marathon. He also earned four world titles indoors and was the 2001 World Half Marathon Champion.
Zersenay Tadese Habtesilase is a Eritrean long-distance track and road running athlete. He held the men's half marathon world record from 2010 to 2018. His bronze medal in the 10,000 metres at the 2004 Athens Olympics made him the first ever Eritrean Olympic medallist, and his 20-km title at the 2006 IAAF World Road Running Championships also made him the country's first athlete to win at a world championship event. He does not use a sprint finish to win races; his strategy relies on a combination of efficient running and fast pace setting.
Moses Cheruiyot Mosop is a Kenyan middle and long distance athlete. He competed for Kenya at the 2004 Olympic Games and went on to take 10,000 metres bronze at the 2005 World Championships in Athletics. He has also been successful in cross country running, having won the silver at the 2007 IAAF World Cross Country Championships as well as team gold with Kenya in 2007 and 2009.
Gelete Burka Bati is an Ethiopian middle-distance and long-distance runner. She was born in Kofele in the Arsi Zone of the Oromia Region, the same district as double Olympic champion Haile Gebrselassie.
Gebregziabher Gebremariam is a retired Ethiopian long-distance runner. He established himself at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships, winning the junior title in 2002 and two silver medals in the senior races in 2004. He represented Ethiopia over 5000 metres at the 2004 Summer Olympics, taking fourth place, and over 10000 metres at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He was the 2009 World Champion in cross country.
Charles Waweru Kamathi is a Kenyan long-distance runner. He is best known for winning the 10,000 metres distance at the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton.
Mike Kipruto Kigen is a Kenyan long-distance runner. He specializes in the 5000 metres and 10,000 metres and won silver medals in both events at the African Championships in Athletics in 2006 representing Kenya. In October 2015, he changed his name to Kaan Kigen Özbilen and has since then competed for Turkey.
Micah Kemboi Kogo is a Kenyan long-distance runner, who specialises in the 10,000 metres. He is the former world record holder in the 10 kilometres road race event with a time of 27:01. He made his first Olympic appearance in 2008, taking the 10,000 m bronze medal in Beijing. His 10000m best of 26.35 is 6th fastest of all time.

He quickly rose to become a prominent distance runner after his international debut at the Amsterdam Marathon in 2007. In his second year of professional running, he won the Paris Marathon, the Fukuoka Marathon and the marathon bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Wilson Kipsang Kiprotich is a Kenyan professional athlete who specialises in long-distance running, competing in events ranging from 10 km to the marathon. He was the bronze medallist in the marathon at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He is the former world record holder in the marathon with a time of 2:03:23, which he set at the 2013 Berlin Marathon. He has run under 2 hours 4 minutes for the marathon on four occasions.
Christopher Thompson is a British long-distance runner, who won the silver medal in the 10,000 metres at the 2010 European Athletics Championships in Barcelona, on 27 July 2010 behind his compatriot Mo Farah. Prior to his 2010 medal win he had won the European U23 5000 m Championship in 2003. However he was initially unable to build on this victory, as he had substantial injury problems for a number of years. He is currently coached by Alan Storey.
Ibrahim Jeilan Gashu is an Ethiopian professional long-distance runner who specialises in the 5000 metres and 10,000 metres on the track, as well as cross country running. He is a former world champion in 10,000 metres.

Geoffrey Kipsang Kamworor is a Kenyan professional long-distance runner. He won the silver medal in the 10,000 metres at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics. Kamworor claimed victories at the World Half Marathon Championships three times in a row from 2014 to 2018. He took individual titles at the World Cross Country Championships in 2015 and 2017, and finished third in 2019. He won his first World Marathon Major at the 2017 New York City Marathon and regained his title in 2019, after a second-place finish in 2015. Kamworor also placed second at the 2023 London Marathon and earned three other podium finishes at a World Marathon Majors.

His personal best of 12:49.50 minutes ranks him in the top twenty all-time runners for the 5000 m.
Simon Chemoiywo is a Kenyan former long-distance runner. He competed in track, cross country and road running. At the IAAF World Cross Country Championships he twice represented Kenya: in 1994 he was the runner-up and team champion, then helped retain the team title for Kenya at the 1995 race.
