Emmanuel Nlenanya Chinwokwu (formerly Emmanuel Nlenanya Onwu) is a Nigerian theologian and Professor of New Testament Studies at University of Nigeria,Nsukka. He is a former head of department of Religious studies at the University of Nigeria and an elected Member of Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas. [1] [2] [3]
Chinwokwu was born On March 22,1948 at Amankwu Ututu,Ututu,Arochukwu L.G.A.,Abia State,Nigeria. He obtained his West African Senior School Certificate from Hope Waddell Training Institution,Calabar in 1966. He proceeded to Trinity Union Theological College,Umuahia where he graduated in 1973. In 1977,he obtained B. A (Hons) from the Department of Religion,University of Nigeria,Nsukka,and was awarded the prize of Best Graduating Student of the Department and Best Final Year Student of the Faculty of Social Sciences,University of Nigeria,Nsukka. In 1979,he earned his Master's of Theology Th.M. certificate from Princeton Theological Seminary,NJ,USA. He then returned to Nigeria and gained employment into the University of Nigeria,Nsukka. In 1981,he began his PhD at the University of Nigeria,and later transferred to the Theology Department of the University of Durham,England where he was supervised by James Dunn and Andrew Chester. He obtained his PhD (Nig/Durham) in 1983. [2] [3]
Chinwokwu started his career in University of Nigeria,Nsukka as an assistant Lecturer in 1980,lecturer II in 1981,promoted to Lecturer I in 1984,Senior Lecturer in 1986 and to Professor in 1988. [3] [2] [1]
Also,he was appointed as a professor in University of Zimbabwe,Harare between 1993 - 1994. He became a visiting scholar and external examiner of the University of Cambridge,England UK and University of Edinburgh in 1995.[ citation needed ]
Between 2004 - 2005,he was a Sabbatical Professor at Abia State University and also maintained the same position at Ebonyi State University between 2009 –2010 [2] [3]
The University of Nigeria,commonly referred to as UNN,is a federal university located in Nsukka,Enugu State,Eastern part of Nigeria. Founded in 1955 by Nnamdi Azikiwe who was the Governor General of Nigeria between 1960 and 1963,and first President of Nigeria between 1963 and 1966. Eri is said to be the original legendary cultural head of the Umu-eri groups of the Igbo people. Eri established a community in the middle of Anambra river valley in Aguleri where he married two wives. The first wife,Nneamakụ,bore him five children. The first was Agulu,the founder of Aguleri,the second was Menri,the founder of Umunri / Kingdom of Nri,followed by Onugu,the founder of Igbariam and Ogbodulu,the founder of Amanuke. As one of the children of Eri,Menri migrated from Aguleri,which was and still is,the ancestral temple of the entire Umu-Eri. Isi Uzo is a Local Government Area of Enugu State,Nigeria bordering Benue State and Ebonyi State. Its headquarters are in the town of Ikem.The other towns are:Eha Amufu,Neke,Mbu,and Umualor. Timothy Uzodinma Nwala is the first Nigerian Professor of Philosophy. He is recorded as the father of contemporary African Philosophy mainly because he was the first Nigerian graduate in philosophy from an indigenous University and the African Philosophy courses he developed later were adopted for the first time in the curricula of many universities in Africa and the United States. He is the author of the seminal book,Igbo Philosophy. Nwala's idea of an East Central State Volunteer Services Corps just after the Nigerian Civil War majorly contributed to the founding of the National Youth Service Corps by the Gowon administration of the Federal Government of Nigeria. Nwala was one of the pioneer members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He authored the initial drafts of the G-34 Memorandum and the PDP's first constitution.
Obasi Igwe is a Nigerian Professor of political science. His book,Politics and Globe Dictionary,which included his theory of Integration,has been cited more than 300 times in articles by other scholars. He is a political activist and human rights crusader.
