The Empire Inspiration Award is an honorary Empire Award presented by the British film magazine Empire. The Empire Inspiration Award was first introduced at the 2nd Empire Awards ceremony in 1997 with the Monty Python team receiving the award. The award was absent from the 3rd, 8th, 12th and 14th Empire Awards ceremonies. Luc Besson is the most recent winner in this category. At the most recent awards ceremony three honorary awards were presented: Empire Hero Award, Empire Inspiration Award and Empire Legend Award.

11th Empire Awards

The 11th Empire Awards ceremony, presented by the British film magazine Empire, honored the best films of 2005 and took place on 13 March 2006 at the Hilton London Metropole Hotel in London, England. During the ceremony, Empire presented Empire Awards in 11 categories as well as four honorary awards. The awards for Best Comedy, Best Horror, Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy and Best Thriller as well as the honorary Empire Icon Award were first introduced this year. 10th Empire Awards

The 10th Empire Awards ceremony, presented by the British film magazine Empire, honored the best films of 2004 and took place on 13 March 2005 at the Guildhall in London, England. During the ceremony, Empire presented Empire Awards in 10 categories as well as four honorary awards. The honorary Outstanding Contribution to British Cinema award was first introduced this year. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the award ceremonies a special honorary award was presented, the Icon of the Decade award. The awards for Best British Actor, Best British Actress and Best British Director as well as the honorary Independent Spirit award were presented for the last time. This was the first year the Lifetime Achievement Award was not presented. The ceremony was televised in the United Kingdom by Channel 5 on 15 March. English television presenter and radio presenter Johnny Vaughan hosted the show for the first time. The awards were sponsored by Sony Ericsson for the third consecutive year.

14th Empire Awards

The 14th Empire Awards ceremony, presented by the British film magazine Empire, honored the best films of 2008 and took place on 29 March 2009 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, England. During the ceremony, Empire presented Empire Awards in 12 categories as well as four honorary awards. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Empire magazine a special honorary award was presented, the Actor of our Lifetime and to mark the loss of Heath Ledger, he was awarded the special honorary Heath Ledger Tribute Award. The Sony Ericsson Soundtrack Award was renamed to "Best Soundtrack" and the Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy award was renamed this year only to "Best Sci-Fi/Superhero". The Best Newcomer and Best Soundtrack awards were presented for the last time. Irish comedian Dara Ó Briain hosted the show for the first time. The awards were sponsored by Jameson Irish Whiskey for the first time.

15th Empire Awards

The 15th Empire Awards ceremony, presented by the British film magazine Empire, honored the best films of 2009 and took place on 28 March 2010 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, England. During the ceremony, Empire presented Empire Awards in 11 categories as well as four honorary awards. The Done In 60 Seconds competition was opened for the first time to international entries from this year. Irish comedian Dara Ó Briain hosted the show for the second consecutive year. The awards were sponsored by Jameson Irish Whiskey for the second consecutive year.

8th Empire Awards

The 8th Empire Awards ceremony, presented by the British film magazine Empire, honored the best films of 2002 and took place on 5 February 2003 at The Dorchester Hotel in London, England. During the ceremony, Empire presented Empire Awards in nine categories as well as two honorary awards. The award for Sony Ericsson Scene of the Year was first introduced this year. The Best Debut award was renamed to "Best Newcomer". British actor Richard E. Grant hosted the show for the first time. The awards were sponsored by Sony Ericsson for the first time.

9th Empire Awards

The 9th Empire Awards ceremony, presented by the British film magazine Empire, honored the best films of 2003 and took place on 4 February 2004 at The Dorchester Hotel in London, England. During the ceremony, Empire presented Empire Awards in nine categories as well as three honorary awards. The Lifetime Achievement Award was renamed to Career Achievement Award this year but was reverted to its former name at its next and last presentation. The ceremony was televised live in the United Kingdom by Sky Movies 1 with highlights and exclusive backstage interviews airing on Sky One Mix on 5 February. English actor Bill Bailey hosted the show for the first time. The awards were sponsored by Sony Ericsson for the second consecutive year.

The first special honorary award was the Icon of the Decade which was presented at the 10th Empire Awards ceremony in 2005 to director Quentin Tarantino. Actors Arnold Schwarzenegger and Tom Cruise are the most recent winners in this category, receiving the Action Hero of our Lifetime and Legend of our Lifetime awards, respectively, at the 19th Empire Awards ceremony in 2014. As of the 19th Empire Awards five such awards have been handed out.

The Empire Award for Scene of the Year was an Empire Award presented annually by the British film magazine Empire to honor the best film scene of the previous year. The Empire Award for Scene of the Year was first introduced at the 8th Empire Awards ceremony in 2003 with "Yoda's duel" from Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones receiving the award and last presented at the 12th Empire Awards ceremony in 2007 with "The bridge attack" from Mission: Impossible III receiving the award. Winners were voted by the readers of Empire magazine.

The Empire Award for Best Soundtrack was an Empire Award presented annually by the British film magazine Empire to honor the best film soundtrack of the previous year. The Empire Award for Best Soundtrack was first introduced at the 13th Empire Awards ceremony in 2008 with the soundtrack from Control receiving the award and last presented at the 14th Empire Awards ceremony in 2009 with the soundtrack from Mamma Mia! receiving the award. The category was revived in 2016 when the Mad Max: Fury Road soundtrack received the award. The current winner of the award is the soundtrack from Baby Driver. Winners were voted by the readers of Empire magazine.

20th Empire Awards

The 20th Empire Awards ceremony, presented by the British film magazine Empire, honored the best films of 2014 and took place on 29 March 2015 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, England. During the ceremony, Empire presented Empire Awards in 12 categories as well as three honorary awards. Irish actor James Nesbitt hosted the show for the second consecutive year. The awards were sponsored by Jameson Irish Whiskey for the seventh consecutive year.

The Empire Legend Award is an honorary Empire Award presented by the British film magazine Empire. The Empire Legend Award was first introduced at the 17th Empire Awards in 2012 with Tim Burton receiving the award. Ralph Fiennes is the most recent winner in this category. At the most recent awards ceremony three honorary awards were presented: Empire Hero Award, Empire Inspiration Award and Empire Legend Award.
