Endre Granat (born in Hungary in August 3, 1937) is an American violinist. He is regarded as the most recorded violinist and concertmaster working in the studios today. [1]
Granat studied at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest, Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University Bloomington and the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California. Granat is a former Fulbright Scholar.
His teachers included Gyorgy Garay, Josef Gingold and Jascha Heifetz.
In 1962 Endre Granat won first prize at the International Competition in Heidelberg and he was a 1967 prize winner of the Queen Elizabeth International Competition in Brussels. He performs on an Italian "Domenicus Montagnana" 1721 violin.
Granat is a former assistant concertmaster of the Cleveland Orchestra, concertmaster of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, and concertmaster of the Pacific Symphony. He is a laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Music Competition and a recipient of the Ysaye Medal. Granat has been a frequent participant of the Marlboro Music Festival and the Casals Festival.
A former Fulbright scholar, he has taught at the Royal Academy of Music in Gothenburg, Seoul National University, the Cleveland Institute of Music, California State University at Northridge and the University of Southern California.
Granat is noted for his Urtext editions of violin concerti by Johannes Brahms, Felix Mendelssohn and Henryk Wieniawski as well as The Essential Sevcik. Granat is editor for the Heifetz Collection that include urtext editions of Heifetz' favorites as well as the Urtext Edition of Paganini 24 Caprices and THE HEIFETZ SCALE BOOK.
For many years one of the leading concertmaster for the Hollywood film industry, he was the leader for Miklos Rozsa, Elmer Bernstein, Jerry Goldsmith, John Williams, James Newton Howard, Henry Mancini, Hans Zimmer and a host of others. Granat was the concertmaster of numerous awards ceremonies of the Academy Awards, the Emmy Awards and the Grammy Awards. He has over 2,800 motion pictures and thousands of television shows to his credit.
Granat has toured and recorded with numerous artists, including Earth, Wind, and Fire, Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, Barbra Streisand, Yanni, Natalie Cole, Dionne Warwick, and Ricky Martin.
He was concertmaster for many recording studios that made soundtracks for films, including Ghostbusters (1984), Homeward Bound II: Lost in San Francisco (1996), Starship Troopers (1996), Anna and the King (1999), Legally Blonde (2001), The Bourne Identity (2002), Star Trek: Nemesis (2002), Dreamcatcher (2003), Looney Tunes: Back in Action (2003), The Last Samurai (2003), Peter Pan (2003), The Terminal (2004), Transformers (2007), Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007), The Simpsons Movie (2007), and Frozen (2013).
Jascha Heifetz was a Russian-American violinist. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest violinists of all time. Born in Vilnius, he moved to the United States as a teenager, where his Carnegie Hall debut was rapturously received. He was a virtuoso from childhood. Fritz Kreisler, another leading violinist of the twentieth century, said after hearing Heifetz's debut, "We might as well take our fiddles and break them across our knees." He had a long and successful performing career; then, after an injury to his right (bowing) arm, he switched his focus to teaching.

Josef Gingold was a Russian-born American classical violinist and teacher who lived most of his life in the United States. At the time of his death he was considered one of the most influential violin masters in the United States, with many successful students.
Steven Sam Staryk, OC is a Canadian violin virtuoso. He had a distinguished solo career and was concertmaster of several major orchestras, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Staryk was offered the concertmaster position with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra but chose to pursue solo work at that time. He appeared frequently as soloist in violin concertos with these orchestras. Staryk also had an extensive and awarded teaching career.

Gwendoline Linda Louise Thompson is a Canadian violinist and music educator. She has been a member of two notable chamber music ensembles with whom she has made several commercial recordings: the Masterpiece Trio (1977–1988) and Viveza, the latter of which she formed in 1989 with Lee Duckles (cello), Wilmer Fawcett (double-bass), Mark Koenig (violin), and Linda Lee Thomas (piano). She has also appeared in concert as a soloist with several Canadian orchestras, including the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Victoria Symphony and the British Columbia Chamber Orchestra.

Robert Crawford Lipsett Jr. is an American violin teacher in Los Angeles, California. He holds the Jascha Heifetz Distinguished Violin Chair at the Colburn School. He also serves on the faculty at the Aspen School of Music and previously taught at the USC Thornton School of Music. He has given master classes at major schools around the world.
Glenn Dicterow is an American violinist and former concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. He is on the faculty of the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music where he holds the Jascha Heifetz Chair in violin as well as serving as a faculty artist at the Music Academy of the West.

Frank Xin Huang is a Chinese-born American violinist and teacher. Since 2015 he has been the concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic. Previous to his position in New York, Huang was the first violinist of the Ying Quartet and a professor of violin and chamber music at the Eastman School of Music, then served as the concertmaster of the Houston Symphony from 2010 to 2015. He has won several international music competitions, most notably the 2003 Naumburg Competition. Huang has concertized widely as a soloist, and his debut recording on Naxos was critically acclaimed.
Erick Friedman was an American violinist. He performed around the world as guest soloist with orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, Orchestre de Paris, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. He collaborated with conductors such as Karajan, Stokowski, Steinberg, Leinsdorf, Previn, and Ozawa. He won a Grammy Award in 1996.

Yuval Yaron is an Israel-born violinist living in the United States. In 1975, he won the International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition in Helsinki, Finland. Since 2001, Yaron has been professor of University of California in Santa Barbara. Before that, he taught for some 20 years at the Indiana University in Bloomington.
