History
Enschedese Boys was founded on 20 April 1906 by a couple of teenagers under the name Lotisco. When the club joined the Twentsche Voetbalbond (FA of Twente) a year later, the name was changed to Excelsior. In 1910 the club would get its current name.
Enschedese Boys soon became the most popular team under the working class of Enschede. The rivalry with SC Enschede (supported by the middle class and the owners of the factories) became one of the fiercest in the country. It is said that supporters of De Boys refused to wear black shoe strings, since black is the colour of Sportclub. Supporters of Sportclub never cooked the green soupe erwtensoep for the same reason. Until 1954 Dutch football was organized regionally (regional champions would play each other at the end of the season for the national championship), so the Enschede Derby was played every season. In season 1949/50 De Boys finally won the championship of the east, so they could play the other regional champions. However, in a poule with AFC Ajax, Blauw-Wit Amsterdam, sc Heerenveen, SV Limburgia and Maurits they ended last. The home game against Ajax resulted in a record attendance of over 25,000 spectators in the small Volksparkstadion.
When in 1954 professional football was introduced in the Netherlands and the regional system disappeared, Enschedese Boys had to start in the Tweede Divisie (3rd tier), while local rivals Sportclub and vv Rigtersbleek could start respectively in the Eredivisie (highest) and Eerste Divisie (2nd tier). In spite of popular players like Darius Dhlomo (a South African activist for the ANC and one of the first black players in the Netherlands) and Dutch superstar Abe Lenstra (bought from Sportclub in 1960) De Boys could not equal their successes of the amateur times. In season 1960/61, with captain Abe Lenstra, they did force a promotion to the Eerste Divisie. However, they never reached higher than the fourth place there. Since both De Boys and Sportclub had financial problems and the city Enschede only wanted to help one team, both clubs merged in 1965 to form FC Twente '65. Both clubs did continue in the Derde Klasse (amateur football).
Initially the move to non-league football went well for De Boys. Within nine years the highest amateur league (the Hoofdklasse) was reached. In season 1974/75 the club moved to their current ground Sportpark Wesselerbrink Zuid in the new south district of the city. In the early 1990s decline started, resulting in a current stay in the Vierde Klasse (8th tier).
There are plans for the near future to merge De Boys with neighbours UDI Enschede. However, no official statement has been given so far on this topic.
Sportclub Heerenveen is a Dutch professional football club from Heerenveen. They currently play in the Eredivisie, the top level of football in the Netherlands. The club is known for its Frisian identity.
Football Club Twente, sometimes known internationally as FC Twente Enschede, is a Dutch professional football club from the city of Enschede. The club was formed in 1965 by the merger of 1926 Dutch champions Sportclub Enschede with Enschedese Boys. FC Twente's trophy cabinet includes the 2011 Dutch Cup, the 2011 Dutch Super Cup, and the 2009-10 Eredivisie title. They were runner-up in the Eredivisie in two other seasons, and finished second in the 1974-75 UEFA Cup. They have also won the Dutch Cup three times, most recently in 2011. Twente's home ground since 1998 is De Grolsch Veste. Since 2019, the team have played in the Eredivisie, the top division of Dutch football.
RBC, previously known as RBC Roosendaal, is a football club based in Roosendaal, Netherlands. RBC currently plays in the sixth-tier Eerste Klasse after a bankruptcy in 2011, restarting the club in tenth tier Vijfde Klasse.

AGOVV is a Dutch association football club based in Apeldoorn. It was established on 25 February 1913. The club played in professional football from 1954 to 1971 and from 2003 to 2013. AGOVV's men's first squad plays in 2023–24 in the Tweede Klasse.
Sportclub Veendam was a Dutch professional association football club based in Veendam, province of Groningen. Founded on 4 September 1894 as Look-Out, it became P.J. Veendam in 1909, Veendam in 1910, SC Veendam in 1974, BV Veendam in 1997 and again SC Veendam in 2011. The club was a founder member of the regional first tier Eerste Klasse Noord in 1916 and became champions of the division in 1931–32; it qualified for the national championship play-offs but finished in bottom place. Veendam took part in the inaugural season of the third tier Tweede Divisie in 1956–57; after yo-yoing between the third and second tiers, the team won promotion to the first tier Eredivisie for the first time in 1985–86. The side spent two seasons in the Eredivisie—1986–87 and 1988–89—but were relegated both times. Veendam then competed in the second tier Eerste Divisie until they were dissolved due to financial problems in 2013.
Abe Minderts Lenstra was a Dutch footballer and national football icon in the 1950s who played as a forward. He is regarded as one of the greatest players ever to hail from the Netherlands. He was also a Frisian legend, most notably with the club where he made his name as a football player, Heerenveen.
Diekman Stadion was a multi-use stadium in Enschede, Netherlands. It was used mostly for football matches. The stadium was able to hold 13,500 people and opened in 1956. The stadium closed in 1998 when the Arke Stadion opened.
FC Blauw-Wit Amsterdam was a Dutch football club from Amsterdam. The name referred to the colours of their uniform, blue and white.
