Enzo Diessl (born 6 June 2004) is an Austrian hurdler. [1]
Diessl was born in Argentina, moving to Austria when he was seven years-old. He is based in Leibnitz. As a child he took part in judo and athletics. He began concentrating on track and field from the age of 9 and began working with his long-term coach Beate Hochleitner shortly afterwards. [2] [3]
Diessl finished fifth in the 110m hurdles at the U20 World Championships in Cali, Colombia in 2022. [4]
In 2023, he ran the U20 110 metres hurdles in an Austrian U20 age group record of 13.11 seconds. [5] He won gold at the 2023 European Athletics U20 Championships in Jerusalem over 100 metres hurdles in 13.12 seconds. [6] [7] In doing so, he became only the fourth Austrian to win gold at the event. [8]
In 2024, he set a new personal best of 7.64 in the 60 metres hurdles. In May 2024, he met the qualifying standard for the 2024 European Athletics Championships in Rome with a personal best time in St. Pölten of 13.46 seconds. In the spring of 2024 he had times of 13.31 on 9 May in Maria Enzersdorf and 13.38 on 12 May in Graz, but those results had a strong tailwind. [9] [10]
The 110 metres hurdles, or 110-metre hurdles, is a hurdling track and field event for men. It is included in the athletics programme at the Summer Olympic Games. The female counterpart is the 100 metres hurdles. As part of a racing event, ten hurdles of 42 inches (106.7 cm) in height are evenly spaced along a straight course of 110 metres. They are positioned so that they will fall over if bumped into by the runner. Fallen hurdles do not carry a fixed time penalty for the runners, but they have a significant pull-over weight which slows down the run. Like the 100 metres sprint, the 110 metres hurdles begins in the starting blocks.
Andrew William Pozzi is a retired British hurdling athlete. He was the 2018 indoor World Champion at 60 metres hurdles. He was the 2012 UK 60m and 110m Champion and holds the record for the fastest ever time run by a UK junior hurdler. The record time, 13.29 seconds, was set on 3 July 2011 in Mannheim, Germany at the Bauhaus Junior Gala.
Sergey Vladimirovich Shubenkov is a Russian athlete who competes in the 110 metres hurdles. He is the 2015 World Champion, two-time European Champion and 2013 World bronze medalist in men's 110 m hurdles.
Hansle Parchment is a Jamaican track and field athlete, competing in the 110 metres hurdles. He won the gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics in the event.
Femke Bol is a Dutch track and field athlete who competes in hurdling and sprinting. She specialises in the 400 metres hurdles, where she is the 2023 World Champion, and in the 400 metres, where she is the 2024 World Indoor Champion and the short track world record holder. In the 4 × 400 metres relay, she is the 2023 World Champion and the 2024 World Indoor Champion with the Dutch women's team and the 2024 Olympic Champion with the Dutch mixed team.
Sasha Zhoya is an Australian-born French athlete who represents France in international track and field competition, specialized in hurdling events. Born in Australia, and of French and Zimbabwean descent, he represents France internationally.
Pia Skrzyszowska is a Polish athlete specialising in the sprint hurdles. She won gold medals in the 100 metres hurdles at the 2022 European Championships and 2021 European Under-23 Championships.
Sander Aae Skotheim is a Norwegian multi-event athlete. He is a European Championships silver medallist in decathlon, and a World Indoor Championships and European Indoor Championships silver medallist in heptathlon.
