Erik "Myggan" Uddebom (born 5 July 1934) is a retired Swedish athlete. He competed in the shot put and discus throw at the 1956 and 1960 Olympics with the best result of sixth place in the shot put in 1956. [1] [4] He set 11 national shot put record and was the first Swede to break the 17 meter barrier in this event. [3]
Uddebom won the national titles in the shot put (1955–57, 1959–61, 1963–64), discus throw (1956, 1961) and weightlifting (1964), and also competed in the javelin throw and high jump. For many years he was director of the Stora Grabbars Association. [3]
Leslie Roy Mills is a retired New Zealand track and field athlete and politician. He represented New Zealand at the Olympic Games and Commonwealth Games over two decades, competing in the shot put and discus throw. He won a total of five medals at the Commonwealth Games including gold in the discus at the 1966 Games.

William Patrick "Parry" O'Brien was an American shot put champion. He competed in four consecutive Summer Olympics where he won two gold medals and one silver medal (1960). In his last Olympic competition (1964) he placed fourth. For all of these accomplishments, O'Brien was inducted into the IAAF and U.S. Olympic halls of fame.
John Carl Godina is an American shot putter, whose record includes three World Championship wins and two Olympic medals. He also competes in discus. Godina was born in Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
Earlene Brown was an American athlete notable for her careers in track and field and roller games. She competed at the 1956, 1960 and 1964 Olympics in the shot put and discus throw and won a bronze medal in the shot put in 1960; she finished fourth in the discus in 1956.
Michael Buncic is an American discus thrower who is a two time US Olympian and former NCAA record holder in the men's discus throw. Born to Yugoslavian parents he represented the US in international competition. He participated at the 1988 and 1992 Summer Olympics. In addition he competed in three World Track and Field Championships representing the United States, 1991 Tokyo, Japan, 1993 Stuttgart, Germany, and 1995 Goteborg, Sweden. He is a four time Olympic and World Championship finalist in the Men's Discus Throw.
Frans Wilhelm "Ville" Pörhölä was a Finnish athlete who competed in shot put, discus throw, hammer throw and weight throw.
L. Jay Silvester and participated in college athletics at Utah State University from 1956 to 1959 is an American retired athlete who mainly competed in the discus throw. In this event he finished in fourth, fifth, second and eighth place at the 1964, 1968, 1972 and 1976 Summer Olympics, respectively, and won a bronze medal at the 1975 Pan American Games.
Erik de Bruin is a retired Dutch discus thrower and shot putter. He held the Dutch national record in shot put from 1986 to 2005, and his 68.12 m discus throw record of 1 April 1991 still stands today.
Einar Nilsson was a Swedish track and field athlete who competed in the 1912 and 1920 Summer Olympics. In 1912 he entered the pentathlon, decathlon and two varieties of shot put and discus throw. He failed to complete his decathlon program, but placed fourth-tenth in the throwing events. In 1920 he qualified only in the shot put and finished fifth.
Niklas Arrhenius is an American-Swedish track and field athlete who competes in the discus throw and shot put. He represented Sweden in the discus at 2008 Summer Olympics, was a four-time competitor at the World Athletics Championships, and competed at five consecutive editions of the European Athletics Championships from 2006 to 2016. At the Swedish Athletics Championships he won seven national titles in discus, and was an eight-time champion in the shot put.
Jackson Gill is a New Zealand track and field athlete who competes in the shot put. Gill throws with his right hand, using the spin technique. In 2010, he won gold in the shot put at the World Junior Championships at the age of 15 years, 213 days, which made him the youngest ever male gold medalist at the World Junior Championships. In 2012, he defended his title at the 2012 World Junior Championships.
The men's discus throw throwing event at the 1960 Summer Olympics took place on September 6 & September 7. Thirty-five athletes from 22 nations competed. The maximum number of athletes per nation had been set at 3 since the 1930 Olympic Congress. The event was won by Al Oerter of the United States, the nation's third consecutive and 10th overall victory in the men's discus throw. It was Oerter's second gold medal in the event; he would go on to win four. Oerter was the sixth man to win two medals in the event, and the third to win two gold medals. The United States earned its second consecutive and third overall medal sweep in the event, as Rink Babka took silver and Dick Cochran bronze.
Georgios Tsakanikas was a Greek shot putter and discus thrower. He was named the 1961 Greek Athlete of the Year.
Zygmunt Heljasz was a Polish athlete. He competed at the 1932 Summer Olympics in the shot put and discus throw and finished in 7th and 13th place, respectively. He also placed 7th in the shot put at the 1934 European Athletics Championships. Heljasz was a multiple national champion in the shot put, discus throw and hammer throw.
Daniel Ståhl is a Swedish athlete specialising in the discus throw. Ståhl has crowned a fine career winning gold medals both 2019 at the World Championships and 2021 in Tokyo at the Olympic Games.
George Watt Sutherland was a Canadian all-round track and field athlete. He was the hammer throw gold medallist at the 1938 British Empire Games. He also took a bronze medal in the discus throw at the same competition. He had been the runner-up in the hammer in 1934 British Empire Games.
Paola Paternoster was an Italian athlete. She competed in the discus throw at the 1956 and 1960 Summer Olympics and in the javelin throw in 1956, and placed 11th–20th.
Oto Yanovich Grigalka was a Latvian track and field athlete who competed in the shot put and discus throw. He represented the Soviet Union at the Summer Olympics in 1952 and 1956. He placed fourth in the shot put and sixth in the discus in 1952,then came fifth at the 1956 Olympic discus competition.
