Esports at the 2021 SEA Games took place at National Convention Center in Hanoi, Vietnam from 13 to 22 May 2022. [1] [2] It will be the second esports contest as a medal event in a multi-sport competition sanctioned by the International Olympic Committee.
Ten medals are contested in esports which consists of eight games and ten events. There are two games where two events are matched, League of Legends: Wild Rift will contest men's and women's team and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Mobile will contest individual and team matches. The games are accredited by the Vietnam Recreational and Electronic Sports Association. [3]
Regulations on age restriction stipulates that players should be at least 18 years old. In the previous edition, players at least 12 years old were eligible to compete. [4]

Esports, short for electronic sports, is a form of competition using video games. Esports often takes the form of organized, multiplayer video game competitions, particularly between professional players, individually or as teams.
Football at the Summer Olympics, referred to as the Olympic Football Tournament, has been included in every Summer Olympic Games as a men's competition sport, except 1896 and 1932. Women's football was added to the official program at the Atlanta 1996 Games.
The Vietnam national under-23 and Olympic football team represents Vietnam in international football tournaments at the under-22 and under-23 age level.

The 2012 World Mind Sports Games were held in Lille, France, from 9 to 23 August 2012. The meeting started during the 2012 Summer Olympics and ending shortly before the 2012 Summer Paralympics, both in London. This was the second rendition of the World Mind Sports Games, which was inaugurated in 2008 in Beijing. The mind sport games had about 2000 players from 95 nations—down from 2,763 competitors and 143 countries at the 1st Games. The 2021 Southeast Asian Games, officially known as the 31st Southeast Asian Games, 31st SEA Games or SEA Games 31, and also recognized as Viet Nam 2021, was the 31st edition of the Southeast Asian Games, the biennial regional multi-sport event which was held in Hanoi, Vietnam and its surrounding cities from 12 to 23 May 2022.
The 2023 Southeast Asian Games, also known as the 32nd Southeast Asian Games, or the 32nd SEA Games, and commonly known as Cambodia 2023, was the 32nd edition of the Southeast Asian Games, a biennial sports multi-sport event which was held from 5 to 17 May 2023 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Esports were featured at the 2018 Asian Games as a demonstration sport, meaning medals won in this sport would not be counted in the official overall medal tally. It was held from 26 August to 1 September 2018. Six video games were featured in the demonstration event, Arena of Valor, Clash Royale, Hearthstone, League of Legends, Pro Evolution Soccer, and StarCraft II.
Esports at the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines was held at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan, Metro Manila from 5 to 10 December 2019. It was the first esports contest as a medal event in a multi-sport competition sanctioned by the International Olympic Committee after the discipline featured as a demonstration sport at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The football tournament at the 2021 Southeast Asian Games was held from 6 to 22 May 2022 in Vietnam. In addition to the host city Hanoi, matches were held in Việt Trì, Nam Định and Cẩm Phả.

It was the tenth iteration of the League of Legends World Championship, an annual international tournament organized by the game's developer, Riot Games. It was held from 25 September to 31 October in Shanghai, China. Twenty-two teams from eleven regions qualified for the tournament based on their placement in regional circuits, such as those in China, Europe, North America, South Korea and Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macau/Southeast Asia, with ten of those teams having to reach the main "groups" event via a play-in stage.
Esports is one of the newly-introduced sports at the biennial Southeast Asian Games which has been competed since its inaugural edition at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
Indonesia participated at the 2021 SEA Games in Hanoi, Vietnam from 12 to 23 May 2022. The Indonesian contingent consisted of 499 athletes, competing in 32 out 40 sports.
Tennis was among the sports contested at the 2021 Southeast Asian Games and held at Hanaka Sports & Entertainment Center in Bắc Ninh, Vietnam. It took place from 13 to 22 May 2022. Seven events were featured for tennis namely: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, mixed doubles, men's team and women's team.

The Philippines national esports team represents the Philippines in international esports tournaments. It is organized under the Philippine Esports Organization.
The men's football tournament at the 2021 Southeast Asian Games was held from 6 – 22 May 2022 in Vietnam. Ten Southeast Asian nations participated in the men's tournament. The group stage and semi-finals were played in Việt Trì and Nam Định, while Hanoi hosted the bronze and gold medal matches. Men's teams are restricted to under-23 players with a maximum of three over-aged players allowed.
Vietnam competed in the 2021 Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi as host nation from 12 to 23 May 2022. The Vietnamese contingent consists of 965 athletes, competing in all 40 sports.
Esports at the 2023 SEA Games took place from 6 to 15 May in Cambodia.
Now given the same choice as the next host country, Vietnam set their age restriction to 18.
