Eumecosomyia hambletoni is a species of ulidiid or picture-winged fly in the genus Eumecosomyia of the family Ulidiidae. [1] [2] [3] The species' habitat is Guatemala.

The family consists of four genera with ca 37 known species distributed in areas with seasonal climate across Southeast Asia and tropical Australia. One native species is found in the United States. In earlier systems the family was called Roxburghiaceae, after Roxburghia, now Stemona.

Chyromyidae are small to very small cyclorrhaphous, acalypterate flies (Diptera) currently classified within the Heleomyzoidea by most authors. The majority have a pale yellow integument and bright iridescent green, red or purple eyes. The family is represented in all continents except Antarctica. There are about 150 named species in this family worldwide. There has been no comprehensive taxonomic study to elucidate the generic limits of species in the family. Currently, only four genera are recognised, but ongoing studies of the African species indicate that there are more.

The Maplewood Flats Conservation Area is a 126 hectare conservation area located in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The area is composed of a 96 hectare intertidal zone of mudflats and salt marsh, and a 30 hectare upland area. It is preserved by Port Metro Vancouver as one of their ecological land initiatives.
