European Conference on Radar in Meteorology and Hydrology (ERAD) is an international scientific conference that has been held every two years since 2000. [1]
The idea of ERAD, which has been perpetuated since its first edition in 2000, is to create an open forum between students, academics, engineers, end users and operational radar operators working with or using weather radars and weather radar data. The goal of this conference is to facilitate mutual understanding between data producers and data users and to help young generations accessing state-of-the-art knowledge on radars, radar signal and radar applications through communication with the most renowned scientists of the field.

An additional batch component is able to render graphical products off-line, these may, for example, be visualized by a web service. Essentially it is a client—server system an implemented fully with the programming language Java.

TerraSAR-X, is an imaging radar Earth observation satellite, a joint venture being carried out under a public-private-partnership between the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and EADS Astrium. The exclusive commercial exploitation rights are held by the geo-information service provider Astrium. TerraSAR-X was launched on 15 June 2007 and has been in operational service since January 2008. With its twin satellite TanDEM-X, launched 21 June 2010, TerraSAR-X acquires the data basis for the WorldDEM, the worldwide and homogeneous DEM available from 2014.

Meteoalarm is a website developed by EUMETNET, a network of European national meteorological services. It provides severe weather warnings using maps to show where and which type of dangerous weather events are forecasted to occur. The level of risk is color-coded based on likely damage, disruption, and danger and displayed for each region of each country.

Nowcasting is weather forecasting on a very short term mesoscale period of up to 2 hours, according to the World Meteorological Organization, and up to six hours, according to other authors in the field. This forecast is an extrapolation in time of known weather parameters, including those obtained by means of remote sensing, using techniques that take into account a possible evolution of the air mass. This type of forecast therefore includes details that cannot be solved by numerical weather prediction (NWP) models running over longer forecast periods.

The 2020–2021 European windstorm season was the sixth instance of seasonal European windstorm naming in Europe. This is the second season in which the Netherlands participates, joining Ireland's and the United Kingdom's meteorological agencies. The new season's storm names were released on 1 September 2020. Storms that occur up until 31 August 2021 will be included in this season. The Portuguese, Spanish, and French meteorological agencies will again collaborate too, joined by the Belgian meteorological agency.
The 2022–23 European windstorm season is both the deadliest and costliest European windstorm season on record. The most notable system of the season was Storm Daniel, which became the deadliest and costliest medicane ever recorded and the deadliest tropical or subtropical system worldwide since at least 2008.
