"Speed of Sound" is a song by British rock band Coldplay. It was written by all members of the band for their third studio album, X&Y (2005). Constructed around a piano and guitar riff, the song builds into a huge, synthesiser-heavy chorus. It was released by Parlophone Records as the lead single from the album. "Speed of Sound" was released in the US and UK on 18 April 2005, and then made its radio premiere on BBC Radio 1 with Lamacq on the day of the release on 19 April. The single was pressed with two B-sides: "Things I Don't Understand" and "Proof". The song premiered in the UK on 23 May.
Holy Fuck is a Canadian electronica band from Toronto. They were a part of Dependent Music, a music label and artist collective that began in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia in 2004 until its closing. They were then a part of the Young Turks label and in 2016 they signed with Innovative Leisure.
Shadrach Kabango, better known as Shad or Shad K, is a Canadian rapper and broadcaster. He has released six studio albums since 2005. Four of his albums have been shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize, and he won a Juno Award for Rap Recording of the Year in 2011. In 2013, CBC Music named Shad the second-greatest Canadian rapper of all time. Shad hosted Q on CBC Radio One from 2015 to 2016 and hosts the International Emmy and Peabody Award-winning documentary series Hip-Hop Evolution (2016–present) on HBO Canada and Netflix.

Lights began her career as a songwriter, penning songs for the television series Instant Star. She released a self-titled EP in 2008 on the independent record label Underground Operations. These Kids Wear Crowns is a six-member Canadian power pop and pop-rock boy band, formed in 2009 in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada. They were "discovered" on MuchMusic's disBand and signed to a contract with Capitol Records/EMI. They have performed with acts such as Hedley, Faber Drive, Forever the Sickest Kids, Good Charlotte and Lights. It was written as a collaboration among Green, Bruno Mars, the Smeezingtons, and Brody Brown, and produced by the Smeezingtons. "Lovesick" is the second single performed by Emily Osment from her debut studio album, Fight or Flight (2010). It was released on February 4, 2011. The music video premiered on January 14, 2011, exclusively on Myspace. The EP version of the single has a different cover, using the same background photoshoot of Osment from the "Let's Be Friends" single cover. It also uses the same font as the album cover, but instead of reading "Fight or Flight", it reads "Lovesick". In the US, the single cover shows a picture of Osment from the Fight or Flight booklet.

It was released in Spain on 9 February 2011 by Blanco y Negro Records, while the same day, the music video was shot on YouTube; in Italy, it was released on 3 March 2011 by Do it Yourself Music Group, then in most countries, it was released on 24 June 2011, but was released in the United Kingdom on 25 September 2011. It subsequently debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart on 2 October 2011, giving Sak Noel his first UK number one single.
Siberia is the second studio album by Canadian recording artist Lights. It was released worldwide on October 4, 2011, excluding Australia and the United Kingdom. Production was handled by Tawgs Salter and Canadian electronic band Holy Fuck, while featuring guest vocals from Canadian rapper Shad on two of the album's tracks. Musically, Siberia has been described as being "grittier" and "darker" whilst also incorporating "poppier moments", and while the album still uses prominent elements of synthpop, it also features influences of other genres such as dubstep and hip-hop and bitpop.

Siberia Acoustic is the second acoustic album recorded by Canadian electropop artist Lights, featuring acoustic reworkings of songs off her second studio album, Siberia (2011). It was released April 30, 2013 through Universal Music Group and Last Gang Records. The album was preceded on March 15 by the release of its first and only single, "Cactus in the Valley", which was re-recorded as a duet with American electronica project Owl City.
