Ewa Zagata (born 17 May 1970) is a Polish alpine skier. She competed in two events at the 1992 Winter Olympics. [1]
The women's 4 × 100 metres relay was the only women's relay on the Athletics at the 1964 Summer Olympics program in Tokyo. It was held on 20 October and 21 October 1964. 15 teams, for a total of 60 athletes, from 15 nations competed. The first round was held on 20 October with the final on 21 October. The world record time of the Polish team was erased in 1969, after Ewa Klobukowska failed a gendertest in Kiev, but their gold medal result was allowed to stand.
Poland competed at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. 140 competitors, 115 men and 25 women, took part in 87 events in 12 sports.
Ewa Janina Kłobukowska is a Polish former sprinter. She competed at the 1964 Olympics in the 4×100 m relay and 100 m sprint and won a gold and a bronze medal, respectively. She also won two gold and one silver medal at the 1966 European Athletics Championships. Kłobukowska set three world records, one in the 100 m and two in the 4×100 m relay. Kłobukowska was at one point considered to be the fastest woman in the world. The American Press made a statement, saying that nobody would beat Kłobukowska for the next 7–8 years following a race in Prague. Despite these successes and laurels, her records were annulled by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) after a sex identification test in 1967 wrongly labeled her as not female. The test procedures were later determined to be inadequate.
Halina Sylwia Górecka is a retired Polish and German sprinter. At the Summer Olympics she competed for Poland in 1956, 1960 and 1964 and for West Germany in 1968. She won a bronze and a gold medal in the 4 × 100 m relay in 1960 and 1964, respectively. The Polish team set a world record in the 1964 final, but it was annulled after one teammate, Ewa Kłobukowska, failed a gender test in 1967.
Eva Viola Elisabet "Ewa" Olliwier was a Swedish diver, who won bronze medals in the 10m platform at the 1920 Summer Olympics and 1927 European Aquatics Championships. At the 1924 Summer Olympics, she finished fourth in the 3 metre springboard and failed to reach the final in the platform.
Kazimierz Lipień was a featherweight Greco-Roman wrestler from Poland. He competed at the 1972, 1976 and 1980 Olympics and placed third, first and sixth, respectively. Between 1971 and 1979 he collected 12 medals at the world and European championships, including five gold medals. His twin brother Józef was also an Olympic Greco-Roman wrestler.
Czesław Kwieciński is a Polish wrestler who competed from 1964 to 1980 in the Summer Olympics. He was born in Romaškai, Lithuania. Kwieciński was a bronze medalist at the 1972 Summer Olympics and 1976 Summer Olympics in wrestling in the 90 kg category (light-heavyweight). He married Ewa Gryziecka, a world record breaker in the javelin throw, and they had three children, settling in Gliwice.
Ewa Grajkowska-Stańko is a Polish sprint canoer who competed in the early 1970s. She finished sixth in the K-2 500 m event at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich.
Ewa Urszula Kamińska-Eichler is a Polish sprint canoeist who competed in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Competing in two Summer Olympics, she earned her best finish of fourth in the K-1 500 m event at Montreal in 1976.
Agnieszka Ewa Czopek-Sadowska is a Polish backstroke, butterfly and medley swimmer and Olympic medalist. She competed at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, winning a bronze medal in 400 metre individual medley.
The women's javelin throw field event at the 1972 Olympic Games took place on August 31 & September 1. On 11 June 1972 Ewa Gryziecka from Poland broke the javelin throw world record with a throw of 62.70m only to have Ruth Fuchs break that record on the same day with a throw of 65.06m. In 1972 Fuchs was the strong favorite heading in the Olympics. Kate Schmidt took the early lead on the first throw, but this was soon passed by the favorite on the second throw. She ended up topping her own mark two more time in rounds four and five. Fuchs would go one and set the new javelin world record in 1973, 1974 and 1976.
Ewa Dederko is a triathlete from Poland, who competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Dederko placed thirtieth in the women's triathlon with a time of 2:05:09.
Ewa Kuls-Kusyk is a Polish luger, born in Gorzów Wielkopolski. She competed at the FIL World Luge Championships 2012 in Altenberg, at the FIL World Luge Championships 2013 in Whistler, British Columbia, at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi in women's singles, and at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang in women's singles and team relay.
Ewa Rydell is a Swedish former artistic gymnast who won two medals at the 1963 European Championships. She competed at the 1960 and 1964 Olympics and finished in the 11th and 8th place with the Swedish team, respectively. Her father Sven Rydell won a bronze medal in football at the 1924 Olympics.
Elżbieta Żebrowska was a Polish athlete who competed mainly in the 80 metres hurdles. Born in Warsaw, she was a gold medallist at the 1966 European Championships in Budapest in the 4 × 100 metres relay with Danuta Straszyńska, Irena Kirszenstein and Ewa Kłobukowska, and won the bronze medal in the 80 metres hurdles. She finished seventh in the final of the 80 metres hurdles at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City in 10.6 seconds. Żebrowska died on 23 December 2021, at the age of 76.
