Clannad is a visual novel developed by Key and published by VisualArt's in 2004. The story follows Tomoya Okazaki, a discontented high school student whose life changes when he meets a girl one year older than him named Nagisa Furukawa. It was adapted by Toei Animation into an animated film in 2007 directed by Osamu Dezaki with music direction by Yoshichika Inomata. Kyoto Animation also adapted it into two anime television series consisting of 49 episodes broadcast between 2007 and 2009, including two original video animation episodes released in 2008 and 2009, directed by Tatsuya Ishihara with music direction by Shinji Orito. The discography of Clannad and its anime adaptations consists of two studio albums, four singles, two soundtracks, and four remix albums.

The popularity of the songs led the band to release their independent self-titled album Supercell (2008). Livetune is a Japanese electro band which formed in 2007 as a dōjin music circle signed to Toy's Factory. The band originally consisted of two members, Kz and Kajuki P, but Kajuki P left the band in March 2009. Livetune started out by making use of the Hatsune Miku singing synthesizer to produce vocals for songs submitted to the Nico Nico Douga video sharing website. The popularity of the songs led the band to release the independent album Re:package at Comiket 73 in December 2007. Livetune made its major debut with Victor Entertainment with the professional release of their Re:package album in August 2008, which was updated with more songs. Livetune began collaborating with other artists in 2009, and has since composed music for such artists as Kotoko, ClariS, Maon Kurosaki, and fellow dōjin musician Ryo of Supercell.
ClariS is a Japanese pop music duo which formed in 2009 with singers Clara and Alice from Hokkaido, who were in junior high school at the time. The pair began singing covers and submitting them to Japanese video sharing website Niconico between 2009 and 2010. ClariS later signed to SME Records and released their debut single "Irony" in October 2010. Three more singles were released between 2011 and 2012, followed by their debut album Birthday (2012). Birthday was awarded a Gold Disc by the Recording Industry Association of Japan for having exceeded 100,000 copies shipped in a single year. Six more singles were released between 2012 and 2014, which were featured on their second album Second Story (2013) and third album Party Time (2014). Alice left the unit following Party Time's release, and Karen joined ClariS in late 2014. ClariS moved to the Sacra Music record label under Sony Music Entertainment Japan in 2017.

Guilty Crown is a 2011 Japanese anime television series produced by Production I.G which aired on Fuji TV's noitamina program block from October 13, 2011. The story revolves around Shu Ouma, a high school boy who comes into possession of an ability called the "Power of the King" allowing him to draw out items called "Voids" from other people. He is then thrown into the conflict between a quasi-governmental organization known as GHQ and a rebel organization called Funeral Parlor which aims to restore Japan's independence from the GHQ. In the process, Shu has to deal with the burden his ability puts on his shoulders and the horrific mystery of his past.
Nagi Yanagi, stylized as yanaginagi (やなぎなぎ), is a Japanese singer and songwriter from Osaka Prefecture who is signed to NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan. After becoming interested with music in her childhood, she began singing and writing original songs. In 2006, she began uploading her music to Niconico and other websites, gaining the attention of the J-pop band Supercell, who featured Yanagi as the guest vocalist from 2009 to 2011.
Aimer is a Japanese pop singer and lyricist signed to Sacra Music and managed by Agehasprings. Her stage name comes from the verb "Aimer" in French, which means "to love". Aimer uses the name aimerrhythm for lyrics credits.
Egoist was a Japanese pop music duo consisting of songwriter Ryo of Supercell and vocalist Chelly. Originally formed to produce theme music for the 2011 anime television series Guilty Crown, the group continued creating other songs after the end of the series including themes for other anime television series including Psycho-Pass and Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress. Egoist's debut album Extra terrestrial Biological Entities was released in September 2012.
Sakanaction is the sixth studio album by Japanese band Sakanaction, released on March 13, 2013. Primarily created in recording sessions that began in September 2012 and lasted approximately four months, the album was recorded at the home of band's vocalist and songwriter, Ichiro Yamaguchi. In order to reach an audience, the band challenged themselves by creating music for commercial tie-ups and television dramas. Prior to the album, the band released three singles: two acting as theme songs for Japanese television dramas and another used in a commercial campaign for the design school Mode Gakuen.

"Ai no Uta (Words of Love)" (Japanese: 愛の詩 (words of love);, "Love Poem (words of love)) is a song recorded by Japanese recording artist Haruka Chisuga, taken from her debut studio album Try! (2016). It was released as the fifth single from the album by Victor Entertainment and their subsidiary label Flying Dog on April 27, 2016. The lyrics were written by Yamada Toshiaki and the music was composed and produced by Swedish electronic dance musician Rasmus Faber. Musically, "Ai no Uta (Words of Love)" is an electronic dance song, influenced by four on the floor that features synthesizers and string arrangements in its instrumentation.
"Itoshisa to Setsunasa to Kokoro Zuyosa to" is the fourth single by Japanese singer Ryōko Shinohara, released on July 21, 1994, by Epic Records/Sony Music Entertainment Japan under the Tokyo Performance Doll label Cha-Dance. Written and produced by Tetsuya Komuro, the song was used in the Japanese release of the 1994 anime film Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie during the scene where Ryu and Ken Masters team up to fight Vega/M. Bison. The B-side is "Good Luck", which was also featured in the film as the ending theme.
