Despite being rescheduled for 2021, the event retains the Tokyo 2020 name for marketing and branding purposes. This is the first time that the Olympic Games have been postponed and rescheduled, rather than cancelled.
The Atlantic Division is one of the three divisions in the Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The division consists of five teams, the Boston Celtics, the Brooklyn Nets, the New York Knicks, the Philadelphia 76ers and the Toronto Raptors. All teams, except the Raptors, are located on the East Coast of the United States. Disney Channel is a pan-Asian pay television channel owned by The Walt Disney Company. The 2016 World Series of Poker was the 47th annual World Series of Poker (WSOP). Most of the events occurred May 31-July 18 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. There were 69 bracelet events, including the $10,000 No Limit Hold'em Main Event which began on July 9. The Main Event final table was reached on July 18, with the November Nine returning to play from October 30-November 1.
Biathlon at the 2018 Winter Olympics was held at the Alpensia Biathlon Centre, Daegwallyeong-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do, South Korea. There were eleven events contested: men and women competed in each of sprint, pursuit, individual, mass start, and relay; there was also a mixed relay event. The eleven events were scheduled to take place between 9 and 23 February 2018.

The Bangladesh cricket team is scheduled to tour New Zealand in March and April 2021 to play three Twenty20 International (T20I) and three One Day International (ODI) matches. Originally, the tour was scheduled to take place in October 2020, ahead of the then scheduled 2020 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. In August 2020, New Zealand Cricket confirmed that the tour was going ahead, and were working with their government to comply with biosecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic. On 29 September 2020, New Zealand Cricket confirmed the schedule against Bangladesh. The ODI matches will form part of the inaugural 2020–23 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.
The 2021 NASCAR Xfinity Series is the 40th season of the NASCAR Xfinity Series, a stock car racing series sanctioned by NASCAR in the United States. The season began at Daytona International Speedway with the Beef. It's What's for Dinner. 300 on February 13. The regular season will end with the Food City 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway on September 17. The NASCAR playoffs will end with the Desert Diamond Casino West Valley 200 at Phoenix Raceway on November 6.

The 2021 Australian Open was a Grand Slam tennis tournament that took place at Melbourne Park, on 8–21 February 2021. It was the 109th edition of the Australian Open, the 53rd in the Open Era, and the first Grand Slam of the year. It was originally scheduled for 18–31 January 2021, but was postponed by three weeks to February due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event is part of the 2021 ATP Tour and the 2021 WTA Tour.

The season began at Daytona International Speedway with the NextEra Energy 250 on February 12. The regular season will end with the race at Watkins Glen International on August 7. The NASCAR playoffs will end with the Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix Raceway on November 5. This season marks the 13th for Camping World Holdings as the series' title sponsor. After two years of advertising their Gander Outdoors retail chain in the title sponsorship, company CEO Marcus Lemonis announced on September 15, 2020 that the sponsorship would switch back to the Camping World brand beginning in 2021, which was the same name of the series from 2009 to 2018.
The 2020–21 AHL season is the 85th season of the American Hockey League. Due to the ongoing restrictions in the COVID-19 pandemic, the regular season was pushed back to February 5, 2021. This is the first season under Scott Howson as the league's president after David Andrews announced his retirement after 26 years in the position.
NHL Outdoors at Lake Tahoe is an ongoing series of two outdoor regular season National Hockey League (NHL) games, held on the weekend of February 20–21, 2021. Both games will be held without fans on the 18th fairway of the Edgewood Tahoe Resort in Stateline, Nevada, on the south shore of Lake Tahoe. The elevation of the rink is approximately 6,240 feet (1,900 m) above sea level.
