FQPL Northern is the top association football league in the region of North Queensland. The current clubs are from Townsville, Ingham, and Ayr. Currently, FQPL Northern is in the fourth tier of football in Australia, the third tier of football in Queensland. The league is officially governed by Football Queensland North, and is overwatched by Football Queensland, the governing body for football in Queensland. The clubs compete in a regular season generally from April to September, and consist of a finals series.
The league was previously known as the North Queensland Premier League, before the Football Queensland Future of Football 2020+ reforms.

The Queensland Cup, currently known as the Hostplus Cup for sponsorship reasons, is the highest-level regional rugby league football competition in Queensland, Australia. It is run by the Queensland Rugby League (QRL) and is contested by fourteen teams, twelve of which are based in Queensland, with one based in New South Wales and one in Central Province, Papua New Guinea.
Soccer was first played in Queensland on a regular basis in Brisbane, in 1884. The game in Queensland is administered by the peak body, Football Queensland, together with several subordinate zone councils, each representing regions of Queensland.

AFL Townsville is an amateur competition formed as the Townsville Australian Football League in 1955, the first contemporary AFL competition to be formed outside of the South East Queensland. It is based in the city of Townsville. For a short period in the 1980s, the competition was played during the summer months. The representative team is known as the Eagles and they wear similar guernseys to the Zillmere Eagles' old white and blue guernseys.

The National Premier League Queensland, run by Football Queensland, is the top tier state-level football (soccer) competition in Queensland. The conference is a sub division of the National Premier Leagues. The inaugural season kicked off in March 2013 and consisted of 12 teams. Each team will be expected to field a senior team, five junior men's teams from under-12 to under-20 starting in 2013 and women's junior teams in under-13, under-15, and under-17 starting in 2014.

It is administered by Football Queensland and is the second tier of football in Queensland, operated by a system of promotion and relegation. The league is contested by 11 clubs each season, the team that finishes at the top of the league is crowned premiers and they are promoted to the Queensland National Premier League, whilst the bottom three teams are relegated to the Football Queensland Premier League 2. The teams that finish in the top four qualify for a finals tournament, where the winners of the bracket are crowned FQPL champions.

The Football Queensland Premier League 2, or the FQPL 2, is a football competition contested by clubs in South East Queensland, Australia. It is administered by Football Queensland and is the third tier of Football in Queensland, behind the Football Queensland Premier League, from which the top team from each season are promoted. The FQPL 2 was founded in 2020, with the first season held in 2021. The league has 4 teams from Brisbane, 2 from Gold Coast and 2 from Moreton Bay.
The 2020 Football Queensland season was the eight season since NPL Queensland commenced as the top tier of Queensland men’s football. This season was also the third season of the Football Queensland Premier League which occupied the second tier in Queensland men’s football in 2020.
Football Queensland North is a Football Queensland licensed zone which operates soccer competitions within the cities and shires of Townsville, Ingham, and Ayr. Junior competitions are regularly only inclusive of Townsville clubs, however Ayr and Ingham run their own junior programs.

This season was also the fourth season of the Football Queensland Premier League and the inaugural season of the Football Queensland Premier League 2, representing the second and third tiers of Queensland men's football respectively.

Caboolture Sports plays in the Football Queensland Premier League, the second flight of Queensland football, following promotion from the third flight after winning the 2021 premiership. The teams that finish in the top four qualify for a finals tournament, where the winners of the bracket are crowned champions.
Magic United Football Club is a semi-professional soccer club based in Carrara, Queensland, Australia. Magic United play in the Football Queensland Premier League 2, the third flight of the Football Queensland administrative division and the fourth flight of Australian soccer. The club has won both a premiership and a championship within the Gold Coast Premier League, the then top flight of the Football Queensland South Coast administrative division. The competition has since been restructured and renamed to the Football Queensland Premier League 3 − South Coast.
