The Queensland Rugby Football League (QRL) is the governing body for rugby league in Queensland. It is a member of the Australian Rugby League Commission and selects the members of the Queensland rugby league team.

In May 2017, Football Queensland announced Logan Lightning FC were among the 14 clubs accepted to form the Football Queensland Premier League for its initial season in 2018. In November 2020, Logan Lightning FC were crowned Champions and Grand Final winners of the Football Queensland Premier League, guaranteeing promotion for the club to play their 2021 season in the National Premier League Queensland for the first time in club history.
The National Premier League Queensland, run by Football Queensland, is the top tier state-level soccer competition in Queensland. The conference is a sub division of the National Premier Leagues. The inaugural season kicked off in March 2013 and consisted of 12 teams. Each team will be expected to field a senior team, five junior men's teams from under-12 to under-20 starting in 2013 and women's junior teams in under-13, under-15, and under-17 starting in 2014.

North Brisbane FC is an Australian football (soccer) club from Lutwyche, an inner northern suburb of Brisbane. The club was formed in 1957 as the Polonia Soccer Club. The club was reborn under club president Kerry Harmon, Treasurer Greg Vitulano and secretary Paul Brown in 2015 and it competes in Capital League 2, rejoining the Football Brisbane league structure in 2015. In recent years, the club has formed alliances with both Newfarm Punjabi Sports Club and the Queensland University of Technology Football Club."NBFC" as it is affectionately known will undergo a ground refit in late 2019 consisting of a new playing surface, fencing and extra change room for players. The club has a good female contingent. 45% of its registered players are female and they had a team in the Women's Brisbane Premier League for 2019. Men's Capital League 4 was dissolved and the club competed in League 3 in 2017 and was promoted. In 2018 the club expanded its Men's City League teams to 3 and had some lower grade success with the City League 7 team performing well and reaching the grand final under super coach Carlo Borzellega and "man manager" Chris Tully's guidance in 2018 and 2019. The Women's City League 4 side also had success reaching the 2019 grand final.

It is administered by Football Queensland and is the second tier of football in Queensland, operated by a system of promotion and relegation. The league is contested by 12 clubs each season, the team that finishes at the top of the league is crowned premiers and they are promoted to the Queensland National Premier League, whilst the bottom three teams are relegated to the Football Queensland Premier League 2. The teams that finish in the top four qualify for a finals tournament, where the winners of the bracket are crowned FQPL champions.
The Football Queensland Premier League 2, or the FQPL 2, is a football competition contested by clubs in South East Queensland, Australia. It is administered by Football Queensland and is the third tier of Football in Queensland, behind the Football Queensland Premier League, from which the top team from each season are promoted. The FQPL 2 was founded in 2020, with the first season held in 2021. The league has 4 teams from Brisbane, 2 from Gold Coast and 2 from Moreton Bay.
The 2020 Football Queensland season was the eight season since NPL Queensland commenced as the top tier of Queensland men’s football. This season was also the third season of the Football Queensland Premier League which occupied the second tier in Queensland men’s football in 2020.
Football Queensland North is a Football Queensland licensed zone which operates soccer competitions within the cities and shires of Townsville, Ingham, and Ayr. Junior competitions are regularly only inclusive of Townsville clubs, however Ayr and Ingham run their own junior programs.

Caboolture Sports plays in the Football Queensland Premier League, the second flight of Queensland football, following promotion from the third flight after winning the 2021 premiership.
