Neeb Karori Baba or Neeb Karori Baba, also known to his followers as 'Maharaj-ji', was a Hindu guru and a devotee of the Hindu deity Hanuman. He is known outside India for being the spiritual master of a number of Americans who travelled to India in the 1960s and 1970s, the most well-known being the spiritual teachers Ram Dass and Bhagavan Das, and the musicians Krishna Das and Jai Uttal.

Dera Sacha Sauda's main centre is situated in the city of Sirsa in Haryana state, northern India. The organisation has 46 ashrams (divisions) across India and other countries.

He is a religious leader, social worker, actor, singer, writer, songwriter, director, and composer. In addition to a 2017 rape conviction, he was also convicted of being involved in the murder of journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati.

Hind Ka Napak Ko Jawab: MSG Lion Heart 2 is a 2017 Indian faith-based action thriller film co-directed by Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and his daughter, Honeypreet Insan. It is a direct sequel to MSG The Warrior Lion Heart (2016) and the fourth installment in the franchise started by MSG: The Messenger (2015). Based on the 2016 Uri attack and 2016 India–Pakistan military confrontation, the film stars Singh and Insan.

On 25 August 2017, widespread rioting in northern India broke out after Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the religious leader of Dera Sacha Sauda (DSS), was convicted of rape. The riots began in Panchkula and later spread to other parts of the northern Indian states of Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and the capital, New Delhi. At least 41 people were killed, the majority of them in Panchkula, where 32 people were allegedly killed by police gunfire. More than 300 others were injured.
Ram Chander Chhatrapati was an Indian journalist who was murdered in 2002. Chhatrapati ran a local Hindi-language evening daily Poora Sach in Sirsa, Haryana. Chhatrapati was the journalist who published the anonymous letter accusing Dera Sacha Sauda leader Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh of rape, of which he would later be found guilty. On the night of 24 October, two men riding a motorcycle shot Chhatrapati at point-blank range outside his residence. The journalist succumbed to his injuries four weeks later. Ram Rahim was convicted for his role in the murder on 11 January 2019 and was sentenced to life imprisonment by Special CBI Court on 17 January 2019.

Mahant Balaknath Yogi better known as Baba Balaknath, is an Indian politician and current MLA from Tijara constituency in Rajasthan. He is Chancellor of the Baba Mastnath University (BMU), Rohtak, Haryana. He is also 8th Mahant of the Nath sect of Hinduism. On 29 July 2016, Mahant Chandnath declared Balaknath Yogi as his successor in a ceremony which was attended by Yogi Adityanath and Baba Ramdev.

Mahant Narendra Giri was an Indian Hindu leader from Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. He served as the President of Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, the largest organized body of Hindu seers and ascetics in India, for two consecutive terms from 2014 until his death. Giri was the head of Baghambari Math, a more than 400-year-old Hindu monastery, since 2004. He was the chief priest (Mahant) of Allahabad's Bada Hanuman Temple, one of India's most-visited temples, which is also administered by Baghambari Math. Giri died by suicide at his residence in Prayagraj on 20 September 2021. His death case is being investigated by the CBI.
